We are in a clearing pocket right now - like the eye of the storm. So the west side of it will be heading this way soon.

We are under a Tornado warning now. According to radar at weather.com, the cell carrying the tornado (which has been reported as on the ground by eyewitnesses west of here) will most likely miss us and head between Martin and Sharon. My mother lives near Sharon, and as soon as I deem it safe, I will be heading out on a fact finding mission as I take her home.

I work in Dyersburg and the sirens went off for quite awhile. Reports of damage to homes in the Halls area and the Unionville area. Power lines down and trees uprooted around those areas as well.

It is still very dark here and raining but I think the tornado threat has passed.

From this same storm-

Trees 24 inches in diameter uprooted...
5 confirmed tornadoes reported...
Straightline wind damage in several areas...
Homes totally destroyed.
No reported injuries or fatalities.

They just said the warning has been cancelled, but the area is still under the tornado watch till 9pm.

Gibson County under tornado warning..

It's gonna be a long night.

We still have to go through the lower end of this storm which is still about 1 1/2 hours before it approaches this area according to this website I'm following this on..

Ok, now for the second time in the last half hour, the sirens are going off outside. As I was getting ready to post this, my phone rang and it was a friend who works for the Air-Evac (like Life Flight) out of Martin. On the emergency frequency scanner he has at home, a tornado has been reported near Rutherford, just southwest of us. Thunder is very ominous right now. I am mere feet away from the center of the house, so I am as safe as it can get in a house with no basement.
