Tongues edifies only yourself...it's greater to edify the church body.

When in a church setting it's better to edify the church body. How about when you're alone with God-
2Cor 14:2"For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men, but to God, for noone understands him, however in the spirit he speaks mysteries." 14:14"For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful."14:15" What is the conclusion then, I will pray in the spirit(tongues),and I will also pray with the understanding(learned language)......14:18 I thank my God that I speak with tongues(while praying) more than you all" 14:19"yet IN THE CHURCH I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I may teach others also, than ten thousand words in a tongue."
When we recieve the Holy Ghost we A) recieve power,
Acts 1:8 B) speak in tongues. I believe ther is a direct correlation of tongues and power, when we pray in tongues is when we get refreshing and renewal, which edifies us. I believe we become more sensitive to the leadings of H.G. the more we pray in the spirit,(like when Paul was forbidden to go to Asia by the Holy Spirit).
I believe that is why Paul was such an extrordinary man, i'm willing to say that he prayed in tongues for hours everyday. I don't think we can force ourselves to do this though, but that it will come as the Spirit gives the utterance.
I try to make myself clear, but I'm in a hurry and don't type well(2 finger method).I off to go to Wed nite svc. now.
