I don't think I have heard any of the sponsors do that myself. I have been to meetings where others did it.

On such meeting was in OH and the guest preacher preached against cell phones if you are under 18, internet, tv, short sleeves. He went as far as to say, "If you do this, GET OUT OF THIS CHURCH!" He then mentioned that he met a UPCI guy on the plane that day coming to that meeting and he told that guy to get out of the UPCI church and find him a pastor that loved truth. He then said, "I felt as much anointing wittnessing to that UPCI boy as I would have if it would have been a baptist".

Dora may have heard those things from the leaders of the meeting in question, I haven't. I will say that those things are common among the UCs though.

To speak this way of men of God who stand on their convictions and principles IMO is malicious and uncalled for.

"Absalom's altar" further indicates that you believe the men who are sponsoring this meeting, and the men who will attend, are in rebellion much like the household of Korah. Absalom was in total rebellion against his father and tried to wrest the kingdom out of his hand by subversion and deception, This is not the case with these men.

While your statement concerning those who withstand or overthrow those put in power by God is correct, the context in which you are trying to use it is errant. None of these men (the Tulsa group) are trying to overthrow, or withstand "God's" appointed men. In fact rather than "overthrow" them by voting them out, or slandering their name, they have chosen to leave and follow their own conscience. (Yet they are constantly denigrated by many) All of the men that are the "sponsors" are men of integrity and character, who have not and are not spewing out hatred for or to the UPCI, and in fact have repeatedly stated their love, respect, and honor for the men with who they have walked together with for many years.

So I ask......if the organization takes a turn in a direction you don't agree with, will you "overthrow, or withstand" the leaders by leaving?

Nothing personal Bro. I just think we need to be careful what bandwagon we jump on!
bishoph, it is often well and good to give the tip of the hat to these brethren; but you can't dismiss the rancour coming from the "Tulsa group" by simply saying "there may be a few..." I remember 1992 and the things that were said by this group then. Granted, a couple of the more acidic voices have passed away in the intervening years, but the rancour is the same.

Where we are now is in a battle for those "on the fence" and those who still have an open mind. It's something of a battlefield now. That's just my observation. Of course there are those in places removed from a lot of the uproar who will shrug their shoulders and ask "What battle?" But in a lot of places the ideological divide that has always existed in the UPC is already asunder. The only question is what will things look like come next February or March?

That means we add anticipation to the mix of emotions as well. I say let's have it out. Be nice about it, but let's hear it. The "compromisers" weren't all kicked out in 1992 - in fact, the "compromisers" managed to win a vote for the first time, even after having their ranks thinned a bit in 1992. Seems like "compromise" is on the rise in the UPC?

Instead of "compromise" why not use the word "negotiate?"

Why does the word "compromise" have such a negative connotation?

It involves give and take...???

I'm guessing here!

Maybe the Tulsa group is planning on resurrecting JCM to be the official bible school of the new fellowship. This would certainly bring TLC into their camp.

There is NO DOUBT in my mind that positions in the new organization are being used as carrots to persuade those on the fence to come on over! When you are forming a new fellowship, somebody has to fill certain political positions of authority. Those that have dreamed of being on general boards or district boards are their prey!
