There are those that would disagree with you on that. Some would say I am too defensive.
And I knew my comments regarding LY would bring a comment from you. And as I typed them, I wondered if you would agree with my assessment or recollection of that situation.

You're not defensive just loyal to a fault! [When I find out who you really are I might change that. ] Your assessment of LY was pretty much correct at face value and his actions did hasten his departure. That being said, I did agree with where he was coming from and thought his leaving was a dark day in the history of the school. There were others there in leadership that had the same thoughts as he did only they didn't voice them. But that's muddy water under the bridge and I choose to look forward.

Re: David Bernard Weighs In on General Board Decis
Perhaps LY did things to hasten his departure and I do agree it was a dark day for the school. He was the best teacher we had, bar none. I was there when he preached his infamous message and I was one of the young ministers cheering him on when he said "Our young ministers sit on the sidelines as the blood flows as we fight each other. We have got to stop fighting and get along!" I asked his boss afterwards, who happened to also be my boss and we shared an adjoining walls in our respective offices, why he fired LY. He told me it was because of LY's reference in his message to OH wearing jewelry in her photos of the book she wrote about her husband. He got pretty agitated and said more than once "I can deal with teaching that 'light' stuff at the school. But he shouldn't have brought my mother into it! He should have left my mother out of it, that's why he's gone." Words cannot describe how profoundly disappointed I was to hear him say that. In my mind it was just more blood flowing and I thought he was above that sort of thing. Literally, it was at that moment that I began to plan my exit out of the UPC. It was a watershed moment for me as I stood in front of his desk in his office. I remember it like it was yesterday. I went into my office and shut the door and cried because I knew it was over for me. Perhaps that's not the real reason LY got canned, but it is the reason I was given from the man himself and I have to believe what he said to me personally.
Sweet Pea: No that's not me in my avatar. Like the other poster said, I could only wish I was that cool. haha.

Hm-m-m-m-m-m.... adjoining wall with your boss? OR adjoining wall with LY? Now you've got me to thinking....

Thank You.
Be honest now CC1, if your going to insert your own opinion then at least quote me so everyone else can get there own opinion. so here is what I said.

There are enough orgs. out there that one of them should be fitting. why do you want to come change mine? I like mine the way it is. You don't see me going to AoG and trying to change them to my conservative views.

In fact I think that the insinuation of "hateful" Pentecostals is coming mostly from the fertile imaginations of bitter, backslidden ex Apostolics who are constantly trying to find a way to justify their actions. ~ strait shooter

Not to mention I have hope that it will progress to a point where it will get beyond the extra biblical legalism and truly bring Jesus Name Baptism to the world and the rest of Christendom.
Now see CC1, there you go again. You want to tell us how wrong we are fine, I could do the same about you but I will not be a judge. I do have the right however to argue against your hopes. What if I and others don't want the changes in UPC that you do? How come people who have left the org. think they should determine how those of us in the org. should believe?
Do you seriously not see the wrong in that?
If your child at the age of 18 decides he doesn't want to live under your rules anymore and moves out, what would you think if that child was still trying to change the rules of your home from the outside? Silly isn't it.
You want to change the UPC, come on back, roll your sleeves up and help, don't give up and leave and then think that in all your new found infinate wisdom that you can change things.
I don't want change in UPC, I would like to see change in the church that hurt your wife, but that is not representive of the whole org.

My wife agrees with you by the way. The UPC is just a distant part of her past to her. She doesn't understand why I still associate with UPC folks, forums, etc like I do. She has lots of UPC relatives and some friends but getting her to visit a UPC church is like pulling teeth. She had some bad experiences with people who didn't know her from Adam judging her by her looks and trying to drag her to altars in the first few years after we left back in the early 80's. I, of course, fit in just fine in any old time Pentecostal meeting. The most I have to do is pull of my wedding ring and the one other ring I wear and I look like a typical fat Pentecostal preacher!
I am sorry if it bothers you I am still interested in the UPC and what it does but that is the way it is. I am not going away!
Doesn't bother me as long as you're nice about it.
(And we wear wedding rings here too, so just take your World Series Diamond Ring off and we can be friends )
