It IS sad that this is true, in my opinion. Though some...not all, but some ex-UPCers claim to love their roots, and attend special services and conferences as a so-called show of support, it is a joke...again my opinion.

I respect people's choice, while not agreeing with them. Having been a long time forum alum, though not as active of late, I respect CC!, Sherrie, Piano Man, and others who have made choices that differ from my own, yet can show respect for that which brought them over.

But then there are others who seem to relish the thought that a ministerial fellowship would go the way of the Do-do bird. Perhaps it eases their mind...I don't know.

I only know that bitter and sweet water cannot flow from the same fountain without it leaving a bad taste...

Licensed ministers...

Wow. No need for Bible on that one, either, I guess.

When we are all dead and buried the UPCI will still be growing and moving forward.

What has changed, at least in this District, is they have created a "school of ministry" to assist with training and licensing. Whereas before, a man (or woman) would somewhat be required to attend a bible school in order to obtain training and license, some districts have now have this school of ministry which provide ministry training needed for licensing. This has allowed couples or single men and women who were previously unable to move to a bible school, spending thousands on tuition, to get training and obtain their license.
Do districts have their own requirements? Last I checked all that was required was that you read a list of books.

I believe you have to preach a certain number of times a month. At least when I was younger you did. Perhaps they've lowered or removed that requirement.

Re: The UPC is a dying movement!

Applicants are basically required to know doctrine and be recommended by their pastor. I think its reasonable.

All applicants must be seventeen (17) years of age or over.
All applicants must have preached an average of one (1) sermon each week for a period of six (6) months or more before being examined by the General Board in relation to their call to the ministry. Exceptions to this requirement would be left to the discretion of the General board.
All local licensed ministers are to labor in full cooperation with, and under the supervision of, their local United Pentecostal Church pastor until they enter into ministerial responsibilities severing them from their local assembly.
Shall meet all reading requirements established by the General Board.
Shall read but not be limited to the items listed below:
The Bible (in one year)
The New Birth
Oneness of God
You can understand the bible
History of Christian Doctrine I
In search of holiness
Passing the mantle I & II
Growing a church – Sowing and reaping
Evangelism I & II and/or Growing a Church
Spiritual Gifts
Five-Fold Ministry
Life of Christ I & II FM
Application must be filled out with the signature of the Pastor. Signature of Pastor indicates that he recommends that the applicant be licensed.

Refusing to sit under the false gospel and false doctrine of false teachers is not "forsaking the Assembly"
