A mensch is a person with whom you would be happy to befriend and associate with, because you feel genuine in a mensch's presence. A mensch is a highly evolved human being. Menschlichkeit (the art of the mensch) has nothing to do with looks, with wealth, with success or with intellect. A mensch exudes a certain magnetism that attracts us, whether or not words or glances are exchanged. A person is a mensch because he simply makes others feel good.
I've never really known a full-fledged mensch, although I've come across a few saintly types from time to time. Each one of them contained certain qualities that interested me because, you see, I aspire to become a mensch. Right now, I can't boast that I possess those qualities, but I'm working on it. I've known a lot of people who think they're mensch's. They'll expound their righteousness: "I'm a good person, I don't harm anyone", they'll tell you. My first reaction is not whether they cause harm; I prefer to ask, "how much good do you do?” although I usually hold my tongue out of respect. Menschlichkeit deals in doing good.

This is only an excerpt.

This thread reminds me of a tennis match.

One lob gets another lob. One jab gets another jab.

Stop the madness!

You my friend; display arrogant, judgemental, self-righteous attitudes that stink of the cultish behaviors of those I oppose most vehemently.

So, it would seem that Bullwinkle's claim to be mensch is just as I stated...in case he wasn't of the spiritual gift of discernment.

Kind Sir
I'm well aware of what a mensch is. A short definition of a mensch is as follows: mensch or mensh (měnsh) Pronunciation Key
n. pl. mensch·es or mensch·en (měn'shən) Informal
A person having admirable characteristics, such as fortitude and firmness of purpose: "He radiates the kind of fundamental decency that has a name in Yiddish; he's a mensch" (James Atlas).

[Yiddish, human being, mensch, from Middle High German, human being, from Old High German mennisco; see man-1 in Indo-European roots.]

Having worked with and interacted with eastern European Jews the word was used properly in the modern context and Yiddish vernacular. Perhaps a smiley would help?

You know, I think that is why people are searching for God in other denominations because I can see what Ghandi meant as well as a once Apostolic friend who once said, "Pentecostals are so self-righteous that they think their own.....don't stink". I have lived through lying District Superintendents, controlling hate-filled church boards, easily intimidated Pastors, Authoritarian manipulative & controlling leadership, Pastors & elders who like to keep their membership poor and uneducated so they will blindly follow men who have god-complexes.

You my friend display arrogant, judgemental, self-righteous attitudes that stink of the cultish behaviors of those I oppose most vehementally.

Kind Madam
You prove my point regarding liberal judgmentalism, thank you!

Sorry about you past but it doesn't give you are right to make judgmental statements about God's children. The only judgment I am making is about the mawkishness of this type of thread.

Bless you

If you read your textbooks and manuals the way you read posts your clients are in extreme danger.
I said "Just trying to be a mensch!"

Blessings

As far as "Urban Legend", that is what the guilty party would like for you to think.
I'm trying to figure out who the guilty party would be?
Who called - you can use the FCF or NFCF username if you want?
Whoever it was did a stupid thing.

Re: Changing Denominations

I find it hard to believe that there are people on this site (as well as most others) who will actually take the time to tattle to someone's pastor over stuff said here. I believe it, but just find it a bit incredable at the pettiness and shallowness of it all.

But, if there is anyone who needs to tell on ME, I will freely give the name and phone # of my pastor out. In fact, I cannot wait.
