I've been searching today for this song. I finally looked here for it.
This song ministered to me many years ago and still does.
I heard it live in Dallas,TX in the 80's Dan Dean sung it. The McGruders and Bro. & Sis Ewing at Reunion Arena. Evening of Pentecost was the concert name if my memory serves me correctly.

Verse 1: I met a man the other day
He looked and me and said
I've seen your kind so many times before
He said "you can't do this, you can't do that"
Your bound by rules and restrictions,
What a dreary life you Christians must observe.(go right to VERSE 2)
Verse 2: Well, I looked him in the eye and I said "YOU'RE WRONG!"
"I can do anything that turns me on, I can smoke 'till my eyes turn red and my face turns blue."
"I can chew and dip,I can snort and cuss. I can party and drink until the sun comes up, but there's better things in life I'd rather do." (You see ....CHORUS)
I choose to be a christian
I choose to be like him
Ain't noboby makin' me do it (The last time through they said "Ain't nobody holdin' a gun to my head)
This is how I want to live
You decide for you and I'll decide for me
the choice is mine this what I choose to be.
Verse 3: Well I must admit that from time to time, the thought of heaven keeps me towing the line.
But the Lord and his comming, sound too good to be true.
Oh, but if this was all just a fairy tale and there was no heaven and there was no hell... I'd still be happy, living like I do. (Cause you see....REPEAT CHORUS then BRIDGE)
Bridge: So don't look at me in sympathy.
And think that I've been cheated, by not doing all those things, that you call fun!
Oh, sometime when you're gettin' down, on the darker side of town
This choice I've made will be lifting me out of here! (REPEAT CHORUS then END)
