So, are you a Nazarene?
You do know that Nazarenes believe the HG and speaking in tongues is of the devil, don't you? Do you believe the same?
If you don't believe like a Nazarene, how can that Dr offer you spiritual guidance when he himself doesn't even believe what the Spirit is?
Would you--or have you--told other vets to use that same Dr?
How is using that Dr not following "the advice of the wicked" as warned in Psalms 1:1?

First, EMDR is a tool. It isn't Nazarene, Pentecostal, Methodist, or Catholic. It's a neurologic exercise. A way of massaging the brain, if you will, via the occipital nerve to activate specific regions of the brain to allow for conscious and self directed reprocessing of memories. So, it's no more spiritual than a push-up.
Second, the counselor admitted that we had some differences in theology. He admitted that psychology is only about the mind, not the spirit. He's the one who first talked to me about the fascinating frontal lobe changes in the brain when one speaks in tongues. He then said, "So obviously there's something to it." His counsel wasn't spiritual, or soteriological in any way. It was purely just discussing the mind, how it works, what problems I was having, possibly why, and what might help.
Thirdly, in seeking a Christian counselor, I wanted to know he wasn't big on meds, new age, pro-gay, inner child, garbage. I knew the odds were against finding an Apostolic counselor because so few enter the field.
Fourthly, I've not advised anyone see this counselor. I'd advise a vet interested in counseling pray about it and see someone they are personally comfortable with.
Fifthly, I don't see following the grounded advice if a non-Apostolic psychologist any different than following the advice of a non-Apostolic doctor or surgeon.
Eleven sessions, and I was turned lose. No big deal. But the control I gained over my anxiety and flashbacks was far, far, greater than before.
And, seeing a counselor isn't for every one. It's a personal decision to be made with much prayer.

Re: Psychiatry An Industry Of Death Full Length
I've been hard on EB. However, I do want to tell of how he's blessed me in the midst of his banter.
A question was asked and the power of God was mentioned. Last night, while praying add part of my evening devotions, I began to contemplate on the power of God that dwells in us, and that led me to question how it might be released. The Holy Spirit called a verse to mind,
Proverbs 18:21 NKJV
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit. I'm going to set aside some time in the coming weeks to study and revisit the topic, fast and engage in some soaking prayer. Then, I'm going to unleash the power. First, on a situation involving an outstanding bill. Then I'm going examine the power in action. I'll give more details when I see what happens. If what I believe will happen, happens, I'm going to do the same and unleash that power to heal in my prayers on my condition. This discussion may have helped me find the missing element to my healing.
God never told us to pray for our healing, begging like needy paupers. Jesus said, "they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover". Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” The healing wasn't pleaded for. The power to heal was released by a Holy Spirit filled command, or decree.
Maybe I'm not wording they way I'm getting it. But, I hope it makes some sense.

Re: Psychiatry An Industry Of Death Full Length
Is it possible that in some of our prayers, we're begging, and not unleashing the answer through the power of the tongue? To pray in a begging fashion isn't a prayer of faith. In fact, to beg for something is to declare that you don't have it...which is problematic...if you already do have all you could ever need down inside you. It's like kicking your hat ahead of you, as you try to grab it.

Re: Psychiatry An Industry Of Death Full Length
Matthew 5King James Version (KJV)
5..And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
2..And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
3..Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4..Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5..Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6..Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7..Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8..Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9..Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
10..Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11..Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12..Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
13..Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14..Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15..Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16..Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
17..Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18..For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19..Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20..For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
21..Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22..But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
23..Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
24..Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
25..Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
26..Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.
27..Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28..But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
29..And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
30..And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
31..It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
32..But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
33..Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:
34..But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:
35..Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
36..Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
37..But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
38..Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39..But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40..And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.
41..And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
42..Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
43..Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44..But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45..That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46..For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47..And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48..Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Re: Psychiatry An Industry Of Death Full Length
Matthew 6:1-15King James Version (KJV)
6..Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
2..Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
3..But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
4..That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
5..And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6..But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7..But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8..Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
9..After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10..Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11..Give us this day our daily bread.
12..And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13..And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
14..For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
15..But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Re: Psychiatry An Industry Of Death Full Length
1 John 3King James Version (KJV)
3..Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2..Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3..And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
4..Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
5..And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6..Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7..Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8..He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9..Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10..In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
11..For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
12..Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
13..Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
14..We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
15..Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
16..Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
17..But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
18..My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
19..And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
20..For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
21..Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
22..And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
23..And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
24..And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

Re: Psychiatry An Industry Of Death Full Length
I suspect that hatred and unforgiveness will cause mental illness and will hinder ones prayers.
Matthew 18:21-35King James Version (KJV)
21..Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
22..Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
23..Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.
24..And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.
25..But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
26..The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
27..Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
28..But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.
29..And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
30..And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.
31..So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.
32..Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
33..Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
34..And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
35..So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

Re: Psychiatry An Industry Of Death Full Length
The deep pain and woundedness that has been expressed in this thread is overwhelming and heartbreaking.
Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
James 5:16..Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Job 15:11..Are the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?
1 Timothy 6:20-21
20..O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
21..Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
Whether you consider all those who have posted in this thread your brother or your enemy or both, what if we pray for each other today, what if we pray for spiritual and emotional healing for each other today?

Re: Psychiatry An Industry Of Death Full Length
Isaiah 53King James Version (KJV)
53..Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?
2..For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3..He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4..Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5..But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
6..All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7..He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
8..He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
9..And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
10..Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
11..He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
12..Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Are mental illnesses, perceived as such, biological or material concerns of the brain and its chemistry, or are they result of "filthiness of the...spirit"?
Can the inner workings of a man or woman be so perverted and destitute from sin and immorality, that they become infected with an illness of mind that only God can cure?
If the cause of mental illness is spiritual, whether by the internal actions and subsequent consequences of sin, or through an external agency such as evil spirits, how can anything but the Lord truly heal and deliver a person from such a state?
Now, if mental illness is NOT a result of sin and immorality or the workings of evil spirits, then sure, treating it in a way that is not spiritual, but natural, would make sense.
But who can prove the difference between them? For the first, one can look at the Holy Scriptures and make a sound case with little effort involved. For the second, what does one look to? Medical journals? Personal anecdotes? Professional opinions?
Perhaps those three and other things as well. But here's the kicker! None of those things, the medical journals, and etc. will ever tell you a single thing about the possibility of someone's mental illness being due to that person's own iniquity. God won't even factor in, in terms of a possible solution, as far as the secular model of how to treat mental illness is concerned. The secular model says that since God can't be found under a microscope, He is non-existent. Therefore, anything that is claimed about Him is likewise claimed to be non-existent, that is, unverifiable, that is, a waste of time.
But then we say, "Someone we know personally, who is filled with the Holy Spirit and immersed in the name of Jesus, and is living an upright, holy life still struggles with mental illness, so their mental illness can't be a result of sin or immorality".
To which I reply: Is there still a law of sin in their members? Does their flesh still lust against the Spirit, and vice versa? Is the Enemy still throwing his fiery darts? Does temptation continue? Is double-mindedness still a potential problem for saints today?
The answer to all these questions is "YES". And guess what? All of those things lead to issues and problems of a spiritual nature that are first experienced in the mind.
Look closely, for example, at double-mindedness. James wrote that a double-minded man is unstable (mentally ill???) in all his ways (See James 1:8). What does it mean to be double-minded?
The Greek word is dipsychos. It's a compound word made up of two parts. The first part is dis, meaning "two", and psuche meaning "soul". So, to be double-minded is to be "two-souled".
See:
http://biblehub.com/interlinear/james/1-8.htm
http://biblehub.com/greek/1374.htm
HELPS Word Studies, at the first link above declares the following:
There's your mental illness. It's being "two-souled", being split in half between two poles, each magnetically pulling on a person's soul. One pole is the Holy One. The other is the unholy one. What does James say the double-minded person ought to do?
James 4:8,
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
You may say that a person is serving God wholeheartedly with grace and gratitude, and that everything is right and well with their soul, but you can't really know that. Only God can. So, to say that someone in the church is mentally ill, and it's not because of sin or immorality is beyond anyone's ability to confirm or deny, since God is the only one who knows.
Take a look at Matthew 18, the very last portions of the chapter. Jesus said His Heavenly Father will turn a believer over to be tortured if any unforgiveness is found inside of that believer. Are the mentally ill tortured by their illness? Is it possible their torture stems from unforgiveness?
I personally witnessed a woman come to a meeting, who was so drugged up she could barely keep her head up. She had just gotten out of a psychiatric hospital. I talked with her the best that I could about Matthew 18 and unforgiveness. She could hardly follow my words, but the word "unforgiveness" stuck with her. I didn't see her again for awhile. The next time I saw her, she was clear-headed, and much healthier in appearance and demeanor. We talked and she told me she remembered what I said about unforgiveness, even though the rest of what I had said to her was just a blur, and so, she searched her heart and sure enough, found unforgiveness toward her parents from when she was a child, and from the heart, forgave them. She received the Holy Spirit and I immersed her the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of her sins.
She's been sound and safe and free from mental illness ever since. Was this a random, capricious act of God, in which He did for one what He seemingly refuses to do for others? Or rather, is this merely the way He designed things to be and it's available to all who submit themselves to the process?
You decide. I know what I believe about it. But at the very least, take it into consideration. Secret guilt, shame, humiliation, condemnation can all derive their existence from a tiny little speck of pride and a stubborn unwillingness to confess the fault that led to the guilt, shame, humiliation, and/or condemnation. They are two sides of the same coin. You flip the coin once, you're going to get one or the other. It's just a fact. No need to parse words about it. Take it or leave it as you wish.
