It's akin to the "Bush/Hitler" stuff that we had to listen to for 8 years. It's also similar to the Dem conspiracy theories about how "the Supreme Court handed the election to Bush after Al Gore had already won it..."
There's lots of inanity to go around.

The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands accepts both Certificates of Live Birth (original birth certificate) and Certifications of Live Birth because they are official government records documenting an individual’s birth. The Certificate of Live Birth generally has more information which is useful for genealogical purposes as compared to the Certification of Live Birth which is a computer-generated printout that provides specific details of a person’s birth.

•Only the Certificate of Live Birth (the one Obama did not produce) is considered an " original birth certificate." (read the Homeland website)
•"A person born in a foreign country who has been legally adopted in the State of Hawaii," is eligible to apply for an amended birth certificate. (Read the Health website)
•"Although original birth certificates (Certificates of Live Birth) are preferred for their greater detail, the State Department of Health (DOH) no longer issues Certificates of Live Birth. When a request is made for a copy of a birth certificate, the DOH issues a Certification of Live Birth." (Read the homeland web site)

Again: I am not suggesting that the President was not born in the USA. However, with the above information at hand, the arguments of the Obama defenders that ‘Obama produced a birth certificate,' and that ‘there were two ads in the papers,' become mostly irrelevant

IMO, even if someone privately suspects the president might not be a natural born citizen, they should keep it to themselves, rather than associate themselves with groups many people consider hysterical and wacko. It's not smart, politically speaking.

The Thinker didn't think this one through. He also fumbles the ball when he lumps all those who oppose the "Birther" nonsense as being "supporters of Obama." Hardly, dude. I'm a supporter of the Republican Party and literally a "card carrying Republican." I find the "Birther" nonsense to be a hinderance to the party I DO support - the Republicans!
Next, the Hawaii Homelands site is for Native Hawaiians - not for the mixed race offspring of immigrants to Hawaii. The only case where where a "foreigner's" birth records are acceptable for the Homelands site purposes is if that "foreigner" was born to parents of Native Hawaiian ancestry. If so, they are accepted as "Native Hawaiians" for ethnic purposes - BUT NO NEW BIRTH CERTIFICATE claiming they were born in Hawaii is issued. How can you call yourself a "Thinker" and get this one so jumbled up?
Concerning the birth announcements having been actually for one of Obama's "half siblings" - just what "half sibling" was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961? Obama's father didn't bring his brood to Hawaii with him. He came all by himself, abandoning his wife and kids "back home." That's one of the slams people have made against the President's father.
Concerning "'A person born in a foreign country who has been legally adopted in the State of Hawaii,' is eligible to apply for an amended birth certificate. (Read the Health website)" ... the Thinker just made this up or badly misunderstood something else. There is nothing on the site he links to that says anyone can receive an "amended birth certificate" under any conditions if they cannot prove they were born in Hawaii to parents who were native Hawaiians.
lame.

Re: Donald Trump Calls for Obama Birth Certificate
By the way coadie... are you now willing to retract your "evidence" that you presented last night?
You know what I'm talking about. The video of the April Fools joke that you took seriously and trumpeted as "proof" Obama was "born in Kenya." That, and the video of the President attempting to do stand up comedy at the White House Correspondents Dinner.
As long as those items are on the table, well, you're just being dishonest.

I apologize for "raising my voice" at you when I really should have been raising my voice at Esther at her false accusation.

Aww, don't raise your voice at Esther. She's your sister in the Lord.

This was not a referrence to you or anyone on AFF-- I am talking about the lokes of the t.v. and radio talking heads that continue to dwell on this-- they are the ones that are fomenting the groundless suspicion and hate.
Those who actually think for a minute that a person who was not born in America would somehow dupe the FBI and/or CIA is deceived-- caught up in their own desires for a reason to deligitimize the man.
|
You have a valid point concerning getting past the CIA and or FBI. I'm not familiar with how any presidential candidate is vetted.
Quote:
Just last night, my roommates and I got into a heated discussion over the disrespect and humiliation that Bush endured with the release of the movie, "W" and the U.S. Senator from SC that called Obama a liar during the SOTU address.
It was very heated.
I have defended Bush on AFF, just as I have criticized Obama on AFF.
|
Glad to see you're even handed. Bush has experienced the kind of hatred that, imo, is truly irrational. He had to cancel an appearance in Switzerland in Feb. due to concerns of his safety. Can you imagine the humiliation that must bring? He's been out of office for two years and he's still harrassed.
Quote:
Some things, just like some people never change. You can tell their motivations by their actions and the context in which people do what people do.
If you would like to suggest that we can't tell when a person is being hateful by examining their actions, then you are wrong.
|
I just can't understand how people disagreeing with policies is raised to hatred. If they're burning a person in effigy or carrying signs full of hateful words, then yes, it's obvious. But, not just disagreeing with policies.
Quote:
Again, I apologize. I could have sworn that we were in a dialogue and I thought that post was part of our dialogue.
|
No worries.
Quote:
The people who are stirring the pot so to speak on a national level over this stupid accusation are not Christian. Howeever, there are Christians who are deceived into believing that there is a possibility that President Obama was not born in America.
|
Until Trump brought this up recently, I honestly don't remember any real national dialouge on this subject.

I addressed you because we were in a conversation. I messed up. I'll be more careful next time.

GWB had 8 years to earn the level of hate he had to endure-- in LARGE part to his wicked advisors who lied to him.
I personally believe that GWB was let down by a lot of people and since he was the President, the buck stopped with him-- as it should.
There was some validity for some of the disdain that people had for him, but the burning of the effigy of the man was beyond overboard.
|
I believe Bush to have been an honest man, doing what he truly thought was best. IMO, I don't think he earned any of the disdain people had and still have for him.
Quote:
Still, his American identity was never questioned.
|
In all honesty, you can't possibly be surprised at that? His grandfather was a US senator, his father the vice president then president. If his American identity was questioned that would be laughable.
Quote:
The reason we are discussing the birther issue is because there are people who are motivated by hate for the man (whether it be for his ideas or his skin color or whatever irrational reason they can come up with).
These are the people that are giving credence to the groundless suspicions and encouraging hate.
Three years ago, this could have been part of a civil discourse within the political world. When he addressed the issue, it should have been put to rest then. Unfortunately, it wasn't.
|
You seem to be stuck on "hate". I don't know how to address that with you, so I leave it up to you and the Lord to figure that out.
I can't make disagreeing with his policies (and I will til the bitter end) equal to hatred.
God bless you and yours, JD.

No. This is still a free country,. In fact it is wrong for people to be labeled hysterical and wacko because there are red flags.
Labeling is a way to cover child abusers and many forms of misdeeds.
We even have whistleblower laws because of attacks on people that raise questions and are hassled and more for reporting suspicious behavior.
I agree things are not smart policically. Either way. Shunning, reporting accusing, enabling etc.

Thank you for accepting my apology Sandie.
I disagree with and have criticized some of Obama's policies, decisions and inactivity.
My problem is not with legitimate criticisms.
My problem is with the birther numbskulls.
Oh and btw, my sister esther raised her voice at me first.
She started it....

You're certainly entitled to feel that way, you have alot of company. And truthfully, I really don't want anything that's going to go no where to get in the way of seeing to it this is a one term president.
