You see if I was perfect then I might have more of an issue with others who aren't. But because I'm not perfect and because I've made mistakes and failed then it's easier to understand how someone else might too. But that doesn't mean that their lives haven't been a blessing and help to many and that they can't be again either.
You have to keep the main thing the main thing. I think that when you trust God with all your heart it's easier to trust others and to understand that God trusts people enough to CALL THEM into ministry knowing full well that they will make mistakes along the way. This is important and perhaps if you look at it this way it might be helpful.
I hope so.

I'm sorry
It did seem flippant and so I (over) reacted. I have trust issues, yes, but I don't have any particular dislike of the ministry or Pastors. In fact, the pastor of the church that I go (when I go
) is a great guy, and it is a good church, and if I had to chose an institutional UPC church, it would be the closest to perfect for me that I could find.
The only problem seems to be that I refuse to place the Pastor in a place of spiritual superiority. I do not deny his right to make the decisions regarding the local church that he is the leader of. I simply deny him any place between me and Jesus. I also deny that his opinion in matters of scripture have any more or less validity than any other born again believer.
Simply, that all preaching beyond quoting scripture is simply giving one's opinion in how scripture is applicable to our lives. I do not believe that someone with a title in the ministry necessarily is any more capable of hearing from God that someone without a title.
