St. Matt, it is obvious that this is not just a little club for like-minded UPC'ers who want to hang out with each other minus the taint factor of their more liberal-minded brethren. Their motive, in my opinion, is to humble the Mothership and at the same time prove that they can win the world on their terms. They will ultimately fail in both respects. The old bitter/sweet fountain trick cannot be mastered.
Yes, the AWCF has a foreign missions arm. They have a youth division. Not sure about a ladies ministry.

Let me say that i am not the AFF spokesman for this group. But I do not see this as an attempt to do anything other than allow men that cannot go with the tv resolution an opportunity to have a group of like minded men they can fellowship with. This is what I have both read and heard. If there is more to it, I am unaware of it.

From what I understand, it is the intent of the Tulsa men to allow for two levels of membership in the new fellowship--one being credentialed membership, and the other being more of just a fellowship status, allowing the minister to hold credentials with the UPC still.

However, my opinion is that this kind of set up won't last forever.

Knowing the nature of men and organizations, I think eventually there will be a push to either fish or cut bait. I don't think the either-or option can remain workable forever. But again, that is just my opinion.

Feelings are too strong on both sides of the divide. One or the other is going to move eventually to curtail having your cake and eating it too, I think.

But that's just my predicition, and what do I know?

This would be admirable except that they have invited someone I know well to sit with them in their meetings the first week of January. He does not hide the fact that he is for tv and has them all through his church.

Who is arguing?? I am simply asking what is unethical about this group forming, even if they are forming a full fledged Org??

I can agree that is Craft did what he is reported doing he was not being ethical. But the question is, whas he doing it as an authority of the non functioning new Org, or was he doing it of his own account?

This is interesting, but only in the aspect of the fact that the whole issue of this Tulsa group is to bring together men that hold to standards that include not having tv. Maybe they think they can convert your friend??

Maybe no more unethical than a man in your church forming a little group of your people that agree with him more than you (pastor) and starting another church across the street from you, contacting and reaching into your congregation in order to increase the "new fellowship".

Apples and Oranges. We are not talking about ministers and saints. We are talking about Ministers and Ministers.

And any way you look at it.....this is what is happening. They had to use UPC mailing address' to contact me. No different than neighboring pastor getting my church directory and calling my members and inviting them to something better.
