Being of Celtic descent, I've often thought of wearing a kilt, I don't have one, and probably never will, but I doubt my ancestors 300 years ago would have thought they were feminine garments. Why is it okay for the MAN's garments to change over time, but not the woman's?

BTW, LOVE your quote, that is awesome!

I'll add the steps - - you didn't go back to church, but you saw Sis. Sour at the grocery store - no Hobby Lobby after you cut your hair and she said all that to you.
Leaving because of something your pastor did is different than leaving because you changed on standards and are told you are a backslider. Hurt is hurt, but did anyone tell you that you are lost because you left when the pastor sinned?
|
Well, you know me. If I ran into Sis. Sour at Hobby Lobby, I would kill her with kindness and I wouldn't care what she thought. I would probably keep talking to her until she got a headache and then she would avoid me for the rest of eternity! And if she tried to avoid talking about why she was uncomfortable, I would make her talk about it. LOL!
We've been blackballed over something that wasn't our fault some years ago. So, I know exactly what it feels like to be the bad apple and to be "shunned". Even though it wasn't over leaving standards, the return wasn't any different to me. Hate is hate. And even though the true colors of the pastor and his wife showed themselves (nine years later) in the end, we knew what it felt like for people to turn against us - friends. So, like Ferd said, we have experienced hurt, pain and rejection.

I wouldn't expect your mother to do that, although, there are mothers that do. When my son was out of church, I was very careful what I said to him. I never pushed him. We sang a song together on Mother's Day. Two years ago, I wouldn't have thought I would see that day. God is good, if we use wisdom and allow God to do the convicting and allow the person to find their own way. I'm not God. Even though he is my son, I don't know his heart or his thoughts.

Daniel had no choice but to live in bablyon, the king tried to feed them with food that was against the word of God. Daniel knew he had to eat, but he refused to eat the kings meat that God warned against!
Separation from the world is not about cars, houses, or gadgets! It's about SIN! If something soley promotes that which is unclean, no christian should have it or do it! Whether it be TV, immodest apparel, wearing clothing for the opposite sex, etc!
You threw in the part about women clothing, and the word still says not to wear apparel of the opposite sex!
So the world says its okay because we have "womens" pants now? Since when did the world standards define what we do?
If the world says its cool for men to wear skirts, do we just change our stand with the times and say its okay?
The world may change, but God's word doesn't.
Conviction walks out when SELF justification walks in.

The Bible (pick your translation) is an incredibly complex and beautifully composed package of truths, narratives, and poetry. Many do it a great injustice and imo, a real disgrace by attempting to dumb down its meanings to fit their religious dogmas; thus, they miss out on what makes certain scriptural meanings special for their particular time and place.
Mr. Cox, after reading this post, I'm sorry to say that you still haven't reached the light flyweight class of theology yet. A bit of history might help you get there.

Re: Why am I labeled backslid and unusable by God
while we judge others that may or may not dress like us remember no matter how holy you think you are there is someone else somewhere that will label you a LIB...
I know churches where the men do not wear ties...and they see this as a holiness standard....
so no matter how strong you may feel about something never forget to be kind to those that feel different than you do...FOR you will reap what you sow....Sow hardness and that is what you will reap...sow mercy and your fields will be full of mercy.
I once had to ask someone to never come back to my house not because they were not good people but their DEEP holiness caused them to find fault with everything....they went as far as to say we should sing songs only written by oneness people...other songs were blasphemy.
I do not worship who wrote a song I worship the one the song is about....

Wow. They must have been just LOADS of fun to hang around with! LOL And I'll bet they really gasped when you brought out the cards and chips for a rousing game of Texas Hold'em.
