CS Lewis wrote a story about that idea, and how someone went to a planet where there was an Adam and Eve scenario, and the serpent was in the process of organization in tempting the woman, etc. Interesting read.
Oh, that's right! I'd forgotten about that. I read the trilogy years ago.

Last night, I was severely tempted by something I saw on TV. Yes. I own a hellivision, and I was watching it last night. Watching (gasp!) organized sports, no less. But that's beside the point. (Or is it?) The temptation I mentioned was in the form of a commercial. It aroused lust in my heart, I confess.
But I resisted temptation! I did not succumb. I did not camp at the entrance of Best Buy to try to be one of the forty to purchase a 32" HD TV and Wii bundle for $499!
I'm not saying this to boast. I'm just trying to be an encouragement to someone out there who may be struggling.
Oh, but wait a second. I looked upon that TV/Wii bundle with lust. Does that mean I "bought" it in my heart?

Timmy, there are lots of neat and useful ways around problems/dilemmas like yours that you can learn in studying religion. Perhaps the easiest is to break apart a word into types. For example maybe the type of lust you experienced wasn't really the super type of lust that makes you do something (the type Jesus was speaking of) but maybe it was just mild type of lust that makes you want something but not go through with it.

The Wii isn't worth it. Just go for the HDTV.

Me too, actually. Except that I may do some web-black-friday shopping. I don't think I have ever in-person shopped on black Friday, but maybe once. Guess it was so traumatic, I blocked it from my memory.
