I believe that to be an "Old Men's Tale" looking for justification for their sexual deviance! Our culture has been taught to believe that men are prone to ...but it is just an excuse.
Men tend to be more visual, and because of this more likely to be drawn to porn, but just because they don't get it as often as they think they should by thier wives is not a legitimate reason to watch porn! It is just one of the many excuses!
I couldn't agree with you more!!! I think we're saying the same thing. When I say "prone" you are saying "more likely." I think they mean the same thing. I agree wholeheartedly that the lack of intimacy in a marriage is NOT a legitimate excuse for porn. I don't think there is ANY legitimate excuse for porn!!!
Even if someone is more "prone" or "more likely" it does NOT excuse the sinful behavior...at least not when I counsel, anyway.

Yes, I do think we are saying the same thing. You'll had a lengthy discussion last night while I slept...appears all the bases were covered!

Porn and it effect upon the ministry is more prevalent than anyone realizes
The power of addiction is secrecy and with some of the logic here, no one struggling with it will be getting help (exposing it to the light) anytime soon
The effect of porn is kin to the same high that a drug will give, it centers on the pleasure center in the brain, it surely is behavioral but at the same time is very addictive
We need to have a comprehensive and sound approach to help recover and restore people with this issue.
Let me say from experience, exposure at an early age and bring a lifetime of warfare. Parents guard you children.
Part of the remedy is something we are implementing called the Life Transformation Group, practical accountability/discipleship
I was going to mention this last night. The person that I know closely that was addicted to porn was molested as a young boy and exposed to porn at a very early age.
Very sad how it can get hold of someone and mess them up for life.

I just think its wrong for someone in leadership to be up in a pulpit or on internet forums screaming at everyone for not being holy enough when they have fallen victim to porn and internet relationships outside of marriage on several occasions.
Would you feel comfortable knowing that a leader (not necessarily a preacher) in your church was struggling with his/her eye gate (internet sites or mags) and yet still in a place of heavy use in the church?
What if this man or woman had struggled for a while, perhaps even giving in to the temptation, asking forgiveness, only to return to the temptation, and still wanted to teach others or be used in a leadership role?
How does the church deal with this issue?
Our feelings are irrelevant. It doesn't matter how we feel, it matters whether or not this is a man GOD has placed over us. The Bible tells us how to deal with situations where an elder is noted to be in sin: the pastor is not to receive an accusation against an elder unless the accusation is in the presence of two or three witnesses (I believe they must have witnessed the sin in question and not that they must witness the accusation being made).

I couldn't agree with you more.
If they have asked forgiveness and have truly repented and turned from that, then I can also forgive.
If not, they are just rattling in the breeze.

Brother Keith,
I read through all these pages wondering if this would be hit on.
