I totally love Hong Kong some of the things on my "must do" list are: the markets - like Ladies Market in Mongkok, Stanley market (my fav)... You MUST go to the waterfront promenade at Tsim Sha Tsui at 8pm one evening for the light show over Victoria harbour!! I love the Peak - the tram is great!! Causeway Bay is great for shopping and eating... you should try going to some of the really local places - the other day, I ate at the foodcourt in Wan Chai wet markets - it was a bit scary but the food was great and for US$2.50, you have a big bowl of soup, a "main course" and unlimited white rice!!
So if you want any info, or addresses of the best restaurants - or if you want to even meet (although I know this is my first post here - some people know me from other forums though, if you want a "character reference" ) - you can PM me on here, or email me through my profile!!
I hope you have a great time in Hong Kong - how long are you here for??

Thanks for all the info! We are staying at the Renaissance on the Kowloon side of the harbor. We did watch the light show tonight and also the Christmas lights are amazing!!! Our hotel is very nice, except the beds are VERY hard - like sleeping on a slab. But other than that, it's great! We met all day with our head pastor from the Philippines and with his missions director. They are such sweet people; very humble! But he is a real visionary and thinks a lot like Eddie, so they are getting along great. It's so good to finally meet him in person, after seven years of only writing back and forth. He has lots of ideas for expanding Love and Truth Ministries in his country and for reaching the lost. We feel that it's been very productive spending time with them. Our next big project is to fund a new church building and missions center for him.

Sherri,
I missed Bible study last night - couldn't help it. I didn't miss just because you were gone though!
Glad your trip is going good!

Sherri - how long are you in Hong Kong for? What are your plans while you're here?
I just got home from mid-week "bible study" but tonight we just had worship. My husband led and I coordinated all the music - it was awesome!! But I'm so tired now... *yawn* I was admiring the lights on the way home on the bus!! I love Hong Kong!!

Great sign of loyalty and maturity, reporting in while the Pastor and wife are on the other side of the world, somebody did something right for you in your spiritual development!

Thanks Keith! I hated to miss because I wanted to show support to the visiting speaker.

We fly out on Sunday. Tomorrow we are doing an all day tour that includes the tram to Victoria Peak, Stanley Market, lunch somewhere on the way, the Fishing Village, and some more stuff. It will pretty much take up the whole day. Eddie got a suit tailored here, which he's always wanted to do and it was really a great price. He will go for a fitting tonight.
We came here to meet our head pastor and missions director from our churches in the Philippines. Everytime we've tried to travel to the Philippines to meet them, the terrorists bombed something and we didn't get to make the trip. (Eddie's life insurance will not cover him in any country that the U.S. state dept. has a warning out against.) Anyway....we ended up flying those two pastors over here to meet with us in Hong Kong. Our head pastor had never flown before and had rarely ever stayed in a hotel, especially one like this. We have had a great time with them, and it's been very productive.

Sherri we have been up in jungle land but someone called me to let me know about your trip and we have been praying for you folks and your Philippine outreach. We too are just now leaving our hotel to travel some more...love you folks...and may God's blessings be upon you all.

Well, I'm so glad that we decided to come to HK instead of Manila. We just sat here tonight watching live TV where the rebel soldiers took over the Peninsula Hotel in Manila and they had to bring in a thousand soldiers to blast it with tear gas! That hotel is only down the same road from where we were scheduled to stay (1 Km). I think Hong Kong was a wise choice!!
