I also noticed that it was a pretty dead service for a camp meeting by UPC standards. Maybe they were looking for the Borat thing to jump start the altar service...it sure seemed like it with Tim Spell doing the cheerleading in the background.

I didn't hear it verbatim, but I did hear it from three different fellas that were there.

He made mention that the mindset of standards are nothing more than a cultural mindset and that unless we re-examine our motives and our hearts, things are going to start dying on the vine.

...this is not a quote of course, but I was told he did use some of this same language in what he said.

I took this to mean that people are simply embracing standards as a matter of social convenience believing everything and taking to heart what they are told without actually studying it and finding it or not finding it out for themselves.

I guarantee you had I been given the opportunity to study out standards, I would have come to a much different conclusion than what I was told to blindly obey...hey!...

In the camp meeting scene the minister hadn't prayed with Borat for a minute and he was already mocking tongues. And it goes from there... "that's the holy ghost..."
