Hey!!! Don't go there! That is the past. Besides our new band is so much better and we are branching out and having so many more opportunities in our community.

These guys are striping music and worship down to become exactly what the church needs today and that is getting back to personal worship and intimacy with our creator.
I would have loved to have had music like this growing up. This is music that you can actually "rock out" to while worshiping God. That is why the presence of God is so powerful at these "Baptist" concerts. People are hungry for worship and they come to these concerts expecting to worship and to feel God's presence.

Yes, the day has come that Pentecostals no longer have the edge on upbeat worship services. We used to be able to invite folks to church with our music as a way to lure them in. This is just not so anymore. At least this is the feeling I get down here in the Bible belt were every town has a Baptist church with modern worship music and the presence of God is felt but just not allowed to move.

All this is just my feelings and opinions. Can't prove any of it.
you shouldn't talk like that. you are uplifting the baptist while putting us down. for years they BASHED us for using anything other than an organ or piano - they are just COPY CATS ! don't forget that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think some SOME of this style is a trend. there is also a merge of sounds that;s taking place. Israel's style is a good example of this that's bringing freshness even to the urban chruches.
Nah, I am just messing with you. In fact we have been jamming lately with a very cool organ player and it really adds a lot to the music. Being a guitar guy, who was forced to learn piano as a young child because of a certain influence in the Mississippi District, I do realize that there are a lot of songs that can't be played effectively on just guitar. The keys are almost always needed even if they are not the lead instrument.

However, a lot of the new music like Israel's stuff is written for guitar. I love doing a lot major seventh jazz chords and all the cool beats. Living in a city that is 85% African-American and a church that has a large black culture means I am pushed out of my rock comfort zone to incorporate more urban/blues styles to my playing during the main worship service.

If you are ever in the south and need some guitar just get in touch with me. Ha ha.

Should have known it would end. I mean, its not like you were the leader, the keyboard player was.

But they didn't copy our style of music. They just got sick and tired of dry boring services. Modern worship music doesn't sound pentecostal at all. Look at youth congress. We are the ones copying them. The only group that sounded distinctly pentecostal was the CLC group.

I will tell you one thing. They are way behind when it comes to singing ability. Usually their best singers wouldn't be allowed on our platform.

Stop it!!! It was my first try at a rock band. We just had different views on musical taste. I wanted to rock but they wanted Southern Gospel.

I'm not talking about styles as much as instrumentation. I remember when it was frowned upon to use drums guitars, bass in a baptist service. now even the catholics have embraced it in some of their services! they have to - they are losing too many youth. the young hispanics are leaving catholism by the grooves and turning to the pentecostal church.

you're right- they can't sng! way too nasally for my taste
