Oh! About preacher bashing....it's not so much that I have a strong desire to bash preachers...but sometimes I think they get so elevated in their own minds that a little bringing down to earth seems to be in order.
I liked it when we could all discuss matters on sort of an even field. On a forum we're NOT in church...don't get me wrong...I believe in respecting the ministry...but sometimes the dear ones need to get back down to the real world with all of us regular types. I have learned over the years that preachers are HUMAN too.
I enjoyed the good ole days when bashing was allowed to a certain degree...was SPICY!!! WHOO HOO!!! And fodder for some lively discussion. FUN STUFF!!!

you make a good point, Dan the Man. However, you must admit that the discussion forum atmosphere inherently levels the field.
Why should one poster be given deference over any other poster, especially when they post anonymously? Those who post here with their true names have a little more hutzpah, if you ask me.
How do we know a poster is a preacher?
That's the dynamic that makes things sparky and spicy and creates FABULOUS discussions that are extremely interesting.
Why is it that a person's I.Q. immediately goes off the charts when they are recognized as a preacher/minister/evangelist? I've met a few who shunned higher learning and couldn't form a coherent thought if you paid them, but by-cracky they were untouchable because they were a LICENSED MAN-A-GAWD!
I've also met a few who received so many accolades for their incredible insight and superior wisdom concerning the scriptures that they hauled off and started themselves a weird camp out in the woods. What's up with THAT???
Us lowly laymen/women AIN'T supposed to question these people????
I'm NOT bashing preachers...just suggesting that in the discussion forum atmosphere (insert better term here), we should all be valued by what we are able to contribute...the posts speak for themselves...if we happen to disagree, why must that be equated to "BASHING???"
If you are a lurker and you simply enjoy reading reading reading, You are still letting your opinion be known and contributing to the number of views on a thread...what are folks most interested in? Lurkers are valuable too!
We need us some sort of Constitution i.e. "And we hold these truths to be self-evident...that all men, women, preacher or layperson, lurker or frequent poster shall be valued equally..." etc., etc.
I would somewhat agree w/ you Dora the Explorer ... I know many posters are indeed ministers ... and I do not hesitate to speak to them as I would anyone else ... the forum atmosphere in some ways does level the field ... I think a minister who enters a public forum like this should not expect to get any special treatment .... however to use this forum to discredit someone's ministry is entirely a different issue ... it's not ethical at all ... for saints or ministers to engage in such actions ...

Who has attempted to do this?
If you question something about a particular incident that has become public knowledge or that is commonly known throughout evangelical/apostolic/pentecostal circles, what is wrong with questioning certain actions or posting your opinion or commenting on something that is common knowledge.
I agree that tearing someone's ministry to shreds due to a personal vendetta is most definitely heinouse...but discussing matters that will possibly have a profound effect on our movement is simply a constructive way to possibly voice your opinon on a matter and possibly make a difference in some small way.
Why do we have to pretend that preachers never fail or that they sometimes miss the mark (mostly not intentionally)? Why do we have to sweep junk under the rug that many of us are questioning? Behold the bump under the rug is becoming unsightly! Somebody needs to get under there and take out the garbage.

Dora ... truth has many facts and layers to it ... to use this forum as vehicle to discuss the private lives of a minister or any other person based on what we deem as "facts" is wrong and irresponsible...
It is not our job to air out other people's dirty laundry directly... it can have profound effects on church members, family members and poison our own minds ... some things are best left to those involved to resolve .... I think when we start gossiping , true or not, we are feeding our flesh and sinning profoundly by committing murder against our brother... JMO
