I value freedom and privacy.
I don't value classified information being made public fodder for those who wish us harm.

You value freedom and privacy, but are upset that the CIA was exposed for spying on you and millions of other innocent American citizens in the US. Yeah, that makes sense.

Prove it, please. The only "harm" they've done is exposing the CIA/NSA/FBI, et al for the lying, manipulating, evil agencies they are.

Re: Wikileaks Issues A Beatdown To The CIA
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-0...was-destroying
"CIA's Creator Came to Regret It ... Said the CIA Was a "Government All Its Own" Which Was Destroying Democracy.
President Truman created the CIA.
He explained that it was solely an attempt to consolidate intelligence from many different intelligence agencies.
But in the 1970s, he told his biographer, Merle Miller:
I think [creation of the CIA] was a mistake. And if I'd know what was going to happen, I never would have done it.
***
Why, they've got an organization over there in Virginia now that is practically the equal of the Pentagon in many ways. And I think I've told you, one Pentagon is one too many.
Now, as nearly as I can make out, those fellows in the CIA don't just report on wars and the like, they go out and make their own, and there's nobody to keep track of what they're up to. They spend billions of dollars on stirring up trouble so they'll have something to report on. They've become ... it's become a government all of its own and all secret. They don't have to account to anybody.
That's a very dangerous thing in a democratic society, and it's got to be put a stop to. The people have got a right to know what those birds are up to.

While I'm not paranoid about government spying, I guess you could argue I'm borderline. I physically disconnect the cameras in my laptops and I'd do the same to my phone if it was feasible.
It's not that I think someone is spying on me, I just don't like the thought that someone could, and reports like this certainly don't help matters.

When I was a kid in school, Orwell's 1984 was considered a picture of a horribly unAmerican totalitarian socialist tyranny.
Nowadays, it seems more like it's just "life in the big city, doo wah diddy."
So much apathy. Things are waaaay different than when I grew up. Must be the fluoride.

In response to such a brazen defense of the CIA, one is tempted to ask, why doesn’t the Washington Post simply announce that it is a propaganda arm of the U.S. government, tasked with the ideological and political defense of the military-intelligence apparatus? There is not a shred of an independent, critical attitude in this editorial. The newspaper swallows whole the CIA’s assurances that its agents are “legally prohibited” from spying on Americans. And it denounces WikiLeaks for acting as real journalists do, collecting information about government misconduct and making it public.

For the same reason that Prof Bomb Libya Cole doesn't do the same - because they both("mainstream media" and "social media") are still able to dupe a lot of USA "progressives", who, anyway, are glad to be duped too.
Their motto is "Russia bad, CIA good" and ........ anyone who dares to question such wisdom,

This is my position as well. Anyone revealing classified info should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law in my humble opinon.
These leaks from various sources the last few years have revealed sources and methods as well as actual individuals who are resources to our National Intelligence Agencies. All of which have compromised our ability to find out critical information and has also resulted in foreign human intel sources being identified and compromised. I consider that treason. I think Snowden should never see the light of day in a small dark prison room.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
