I can give you an example of "them wanting it that way". The Church of God (HQ Cleveland,Tenn) denomination is integrated, except one State, Florida. Why? Because the Afro-American congregations have preferred to keep a separate district all these years. They have their own leadership, departments, etc.

Google a guy named Arthur Clanton, research his comments, then come back with the real reason. As UPC superintendent i believe his trumps "they prefer it". When you read the official UPC position on this then you will understand why I focused on that part of your answer.

If the churches are integrated now it is very recent. I am not speaking of just one district because research indicates that what was described to me was official policy so hiding it now would be like trying to hide a sunrise.

Fact is MOST blacks prefer black majority churches. Most whites prefer white majority churches. People tend to associate with others like themselves. It's always been that way. It will always be that way.

And there is ZERO scripture that forbids a black Christian from assemblying with other black Christians. Or a white Christian from assemblying with other white Christians for that matter.

And man shall live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God, not out of the mouth of political correctness.

I was once a door to door salesman waaay back in the day. Went to a neighborhood that was practically ALL black. It was an upper class neighborhood by the way, not even remotely a "ghetto". I mean BIG houses, NIIIICE houses, gated, everybody living there had 6 figure incomes AT LEAST. But almost entirely black populated. Why is that? The answer is staring you in the face: prefer just generally prefer to be around people like themselves, both economically and ethnically.

It is not only normal, it is biblical. People will almost ALWAYS voluntarily self-segregate along certain lines. This has nothing to do with oppression or being unfair, it just IS. Blacks tend to marry blacks, whites tend to marry whites, orientals "same-same" (yes that was intentional, lol). People group with what they perceive as similar people.

I reject this silly notion that the local Holy Apostolic Overcoming Church Of God exists because white people be keepin fokes down.

Save that nonsense for Nation of Islam rallies or Democrat party fund raisers.

Long after slavery, segregation persisted. You brought up AME-- do you know their history as to when they started and why? It's because of white segregation. Missionary Baptists-- same history, started because of segregation. As for black and white church planters, I don't have an answer other than today race in America is complicated but our American racial history isn't complicated. It is sad, but it is not complicated.

I do not believe predominately white churches for the most part exist consciously as "white churches". However, I do think race plays a significant role in many black churches. It's a cultural preservation thing as much as it is a christian thing. Overall this has done more harm than good when much of the cultural emphasis seems to be based on unforgiveness and carrying offenses. There is a Rev. Wright in practically every town in America.

I disagree with you. The history of black churches and white churches go back to segregation. Today, a predominantly white church and a predominantly black church may exist without race consciousness, and members of other races would be welcome in their congregations. And the Rev. Jeremiah Wright phenomenon is not widespread. Most churches preach forgiveness and the black churches I've experienced are not different.
