Re: Do you have to speak in tongues to be saved?
I don't like the word "saved". There is nothing wrong with the word, we have redefined what it means.
If you get saved you never have to do anything else for the rest of your life.
I don't need to pray every day- I'm Saved!
I don't need to live holy- I'm Saved!
I don't need to seek after God- I'm Saved!

Here's the rub.
You won't be doing those things to get saved. If you do those things and they are of any value to GOD, it will be only because of His Relationship with you and He decides that your actions are of value to Him.
For Oneness Pentecostals, salvation is all about us.
For the other Christians, salvation is all about Him.
Who has the more biblical view?

I wasn't trying to say you have to do these things to be saved, but if you are saved your first priority should not be to forget God.
Salvation is living a life in relationship with your Savior.

That's a mouthful and I feel that is very accurate. Many OPs don't even realize how dependent they are on their works to prove their salvation (my previous self included). Unfortunately, the other end of the spectrum has people claiming Jesus as their savior without any fruit to show for it.
I feel the "truth" is somewhere in between.

You need to stop speaking English and speak whatever comes out of your mouth. This has been the prevalent teaching that took over for the past many years.

Luke, I should have stated that I was not a grace "only" proponent. I am not a believe "only" proponent either.
I'm sure you understood that from my last post, but I wanted to come back and clarify my statement, for the record.

I am not a saved by grace person. That, IMO, gives the idea of once saved always saved.
There are three works mentioned in the Bible: - Dead works - living without faith.
- works of the law - Jewish law
- faith with works - working reality and points to obedience.
We need to make sure we are talking about faith with obedience. It takes obedience to continue in the faith. That is not a work to earn anything, but to remain faithful. We have responsibility in the Kingdom of God.

God does offer us grace - his graciousness, but our obedience to faith is necessary for us to be saved. He doesn't stand there offering grace with no type of response required from us.
If that were the case, I wouldn't need to repent or be baptized, or go onto perfection (maturity).
He also says, if you believe on me - call on my name, you will be saved. There is obedience that goes with that.
