I have watched it for years the prophet said "like people like priest." The majority of the time the preacher is a mirror of the folks he pastors. Most folks don't won't much and don't get much. Did you read the replies of his congregation "no big deal." BECAUSE that is probably the way they live and don't really won't to be preached to about their sins so they choose a dumb dog to preach to them.

I see it the opposite direction... people emulate their leader.
He's the example. If he's screwed up, they'll be screwed up.
They reflect his attitude...
They probably see it as no big deal because he sees it that way and treats it that way...
They deserve better... but they are willing to settle.

I think they deserve him and I am glad they have him. He is blind and they are blind a good fit.

Being here in Northern Ohio, myself, I know when this pastor is in the news. It has been sad to see and hear, for sure. I agree with Sherri, that there is a time to step down and heal or repent or whatever and then a person can return in far more strength.
I am also aware of another situation where a (UPC) pastor spent the church's building fund completely dry (1 million $$) and then mortgaged the paid off building to fund his lifestyle over the past 10yrs. Needless to say that church's dream of a new building is down the drain!
This pastor never gave full disclosure to the prople as to what happened to the money and now there is a criminal investigation. He is no longer pastor.

This may the silliest post ever ... from the Elder ... this is like saying parents are mirrors of their children ... Pastor lead ... sheep follow ... simple concept.
