That doesn't diminish the first question. You claimed Romney destroyed a decent candidate. Yet, the other candidates really destroyed themselves. Santorum, with his nutty sex-ed beliefs; Newt, with being Newt; Perry, with being GWB part deux. Ron Paul didn't destroy himself, unfortunately he was destroyed by way of being ignored and passed on by the MSM and even conservative media.

My defense of Romney isn't because I'm a huge supporter. I did vote for him in the election, only because he was the better Republican candidate. Had there been Rubio or Rand Paul, I would've likely voted for one of them instead. (Although I wasn't much impressed with Rubio's CPAC speech.) The allegations you made about Romney, however, are far-fetched, unfounded and more a personal dislike than a factional issue.
I agree with everything you said except that Perry is not Bush part deux and if I had a dollar for every person that said they would have voted for Newt if they thought he could win, he would be the President today. That was a ridiculous thing for people to say - just make it happen.

But, I realize that the GOP and Faux News paralyzed the people with fear over an Obama re-election, and so they didn't use good judgment. The fear was palpable in discussions all over the net.

Like I said, Rubio is not my enemy, but I am not impressed with him.

I wish we could get to a place where we wouldn't allow the media to drive the narrative, but I don't see that happening.

I want to add, because I want to be really plain on what I think about Romney - Mitt is a subversive liberal progressive that came into this party to destroy conservatism.

Perry is most definitely Bush redeux. He says the right things, but at the core he's a big government, big spending, open borders, Texas Republican.

Not a Newt fan. Even if polls would've shown him blowing Obama out. His infidelity, misleading ads, and other things turned me away from seriously considering him.

I don't agree with either of your opinions of these two men, but that's okay, it's a free country. You don't want to discuss Romney's misleading ads. All of this has already been discussed as well.

I am listening to Romney' speech now, because I have to, but I'm not enjoying it. We'll tear him up on blog radio later.

Jindal isn't an exciting speaker, but he has substance. I liked his speech.

Re: Cpac 2013

NO MORE RINO's This is important.. Jindal nailed it. Here’s why…

The Republicans do not have a leg to stand on when it comes to fiscal responsibility or balancing any budgets. Eisenhower was the last Republican president to do it.

Let’s walk through this again.

Bush:

5 debt ceiling increases and 5 trillion dollars of increased debt, the burning of the Bill of Rights, the endless war on terror, the TSA, DHS, etc, etc. And then TARP as he left the office. And guess who was right there with him doing this? That’s right, Ryan, Santorum, Cantor, Boehner, McCain, McConnell, etc, etc, etc.

Then after the Tea Party gave us the 2010 wins, the Republicans, including Ryan, have handed Obama everything he asks for… Oh yeah they cry and rant and claim nobody has balanced the budget. Let me help you, the only thing they are really crying about is that they are not in total control.

I didn't say that Jindal mentioned Bush. I just stated that he nailed the problem with the GOP.

Here is Rand's Speech:

Re: Cpac 2013

DM,
Newt is being interviewed by Greta. He has to be heartbroken watching all these people battle. He helped rebuild the party with Reagan after it fell apart from Nixon. And then he built the conservative movement to watch the RINO's and Bush destroy it. What a waste of the potential in this party...

I also believe that Newt is very pleased at what he is seeing from the new kids on the block, he looked like the cat that ate the canary. lol

DM, Jeb Bush spoke about an hour ago. The video isn't up yet. Here is a link to catch whichever speaker you are interested in.

Re: Cpac 2013

I am not impressed with CPAC at all, but think it is cool they are meeting very, very close to my hometown!

So CPAC invites the likes of Trump and Romney, but snubs Chris Christie.

This is akin to cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Very dumb decision.

By the way, Perry is WORST than Bush.
Bush never went hunting at his family camp grounds called camp n-head.

They had some very good Q & A panels. Thought that was a great touch.

Chris Christie is for gun control - that makes him not eligible for CPAC

And you are still perpetuating a lie about N-Head. That has all been discussed on this forum.

Anywaysss, this is my last political post for a long while. Just wanted to end with Jeb Bush, posting an article he wrote for the WSJ, and adding a couple of my observations.

Quote:

Jeb Bush: The Road to Republican Revival

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...inion_newsreel
  • If he wrote this, he is a good writer.
  • It sounds like he is hanging a carrot for people to want more info. He talked over the surface of many points.
  • I saw a hint of Newt's style in the way he wrote.
  • He is building the base for a more complex solution oriented dialogue.
  • He wants to run really bad, that much is obvious.
