Please find the term 'personal conviction' in scripture? When you do, I will begin believing in them, LOL! Illuminating is the fact that every person I have ever heard use the term has a pre-made list of the ones I should have in order to be saved.
Do not allow what you consider good to be spoken of as evil. For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of eating or drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. – Romans 14:7-18.

Born and raise on a farm. South Arkansas. Its a southern term, lol.
Scripture for personal conviction ? Sure!
Philippians 2:12
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling
Isaiah 30:21
Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying,
“This is the way, walk in it,”
Whenever you turn to the right hand
Or whenever you turn to the left.
John 16; 7,8
Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
"He" will convict. The Holy Spirit will convict. Not your beliefs, nor any other man or orgs beliefs will convict, but HE will convict.
Funny, didn't you just start a great big thread about leaving the guidlines of an org because the Spirit was leading you else where ? That's personal conviction.

Agreed!
And this street goes both ways.
I am not a die-hard standards person myself -- but I respect those who are. (I'm not saying you, but some on this forum definitely poke fun at looks.)

I thought horse pucky was a bit strong; I liked T2W's post vm. I mean, I like Ph 2:12, too, but I wonder if you won't end up agreeing in loud voices?

I am probably the king of that. But only because I see the incredible pride and sense of exclusiveness buried a half inch underneath.

So it is southern cussing then??? Okey-dokey.
I am not suggesting that the principle is not there but I am no longer down with the term "personal conviction". That term is attached to a lot of things that have no groundwork in scripture and a lot of hype and pressure from some desiring power over the people and do not in any way lead to being a better more spiritual Christian. Rather these 'personal convictions' are a cornerstone for how to bend and stretch a rule until it groans in agony while not actually breaking it.

Well yes, I believe you do wear that crown! LOL
And not always is that "incredible pride and sense of exclusiveness" present. Sometimes, it is truly genuine commitment in what one feels is "right." And if they feel it is right, then to do otherwise (for them) would be sin.

And that is Bible!
Which is complete without the addition of concepts, like trinity or like 'personal conviction'. Just use what is there.. it works.

Re: Old Time Pentecost
Hmm...somehow you've made "be a god" to me into a...conscious thing. This shouldn't be what you project to me, it seems, as in thrust, but rather...exude? Which would surely come across differently, I'm sure I'm still a thruster, lol.

Sometimes. But rarely. More often it is like the Pharisee thanking God he or she is not like the rest of the world sitting next to him or her.
