A few years ago Bro. Bernard had a Samoan lady in his church who came up for prayer. While praying for her his tongues changed and the woman began to cry and say 'yes Jesus. Yes Jesus.'. Brother Bernard was approached by the lady, who said (I'm paraphrasing) 'Do you know what you said to me?'. Bro Bernard - No I was speaking in tongues. Samoan lady - 'You were speaking Samoan and telling me to stop cutting my hair.'

To my knowledge Bro Bernard knows Korean, Spanish, Biblical Greek and Hebrew and Latin. I doubt he knew Samoan.

My guess is that Houston's disbelief is not about understanding tongues but the message about "stop cutting her hair by tongues" is what he does not believe...

Probably, but why would the woman lie? Why would Bro Bernard lie? Once again, he doesn't have to believe.

Here in Birmingham we had a lot of backsliders return and had people coming up to the church because they were compelled to, because they 'felt something'. We have people getting baptized and/or receiving the Spirit every service it seems. It's only building and building.
How did they baptize them in the parking lot?
sprinkling?
pouring?
water hose?

Re: Great Revivals

I've read some accounts of the Brownsville Revival, the Smithton, Kansas Outpouring. The Jesus Movement ignited a world wide movement which still reverberates today. I don't know of any upci church which comes remotely close to the impact these movements had on the body of Christ.

It's awesome what God is doing in your church.

If Phillip could find a pool in the desert, surely God could supply a puddle of water in the parking lot.

Re: Great Revivals

How dare you mention the Brownsville Revival, the Smithton, Kansas Outpouring and The Jesus Movement in the same breath with the Body of Christ! Some here think those groups/movements are completely separate from and outside of the Body of Christ. (I'm not one who thinks that)

I'm sure they took them inside, sorry for that omission.

That was a tic comment, not a criticism.
I've been known to do that here.

One time at the Vineyard where I was going at the time (1992-2006) we had so many folks scheduled to get baptized one weekend that one of he pastors jokingly said we ought to just take them out in the parking lot and hose them down. They didn't. Each was dipped individually over the 4 or 5 services they had that day.
