What happens if your production out paces your consumption for a period of months?

The credits are month to month but they would pile up. If your credits get large enough that they are larger then a single months usage, I am not sure what would happen yet. Our system will not be big enough for that to ever be a case though.

Re: Going Solar

The die has been cast! The completed contract emailed in. Next step is to see some drawn up plans and get to give the thumbs up or thumbs down to the design, then a short fight with our HOA, then the actual install, and then the most frustrating part: Having our electric utility come over to approve it and flip the switch.

Re: Going Solar

Day 1 of a 3 day project has just been completed. All the mounting hardware has been installed on the top of the roof. Tomorrow the inverter is installed and all the electrical cables run, and then on Wed the panels themselves (all 22 of them) are put up. Then once it is inspected by an electrician from our utility, we go hot.

Our house is just over 2200 square feet and single story. The panels are 225 watts each so the total output is 4.95 kw which will cut our annual electric bill in half.

By the way, the installers just finished putting up the panels. Now they just need to finish wiring the inverter, solar meter, and kill switch together.

5 years. And if the cost of electricity never goes up a cent, then tack on another 4 months. This is what was the deciding factor.

The panels also have a 25 year warrant so once they are paid off it is just savings after that.
