Re: Welcome Home, David Wilkerson

I read The Cross and the Switchblade in the early 60's and was also moved.

In the mid 60's a local AOG church showed a movie made of The
Cross and The Switchblade. My mother and I went to it. My dad wouldn't go because it was an AOG church.

He had a wonderful ministry.

Re: Welcome Home, David Wilkerson

I remember reading about some of their street meetings. The "altar call" could take 45 minutes as people descended down fire escapes or stairs, came out into the streets, knelt, and prayed. Lives were dramatically altered.

I remember reading about some of the kids who would go to the facility (teen challenge) for rehab. Some were delivered instantly. Others took days of withdrawal with chills, perspiration, hallucinations, pain, etc and people from teen challenge would hold them and pray with them through it.

We can surely recognize the good that this man did without condoning his doctrine. I don't believe that to recognize the good that someone did in their life is to say that they are saved. I will not debate the condition of his eternity because it would be pointless and it is not my place. I will say that he took some very good stands and did a lot of good things in his life!
