Yes, so did we and those were the good old days. When I moved away from home and bought some steak at the grocery store, I was, like, "This doesn't taste like my daddy's meat? What happened?" I have no idea there would be that much of a difference!

LOL! You reminded me of fishing as Lady Rev and HO did that a lot. In one of my husband's fishing magazines, one of the writers calls his wife, "The War Department."

Re: Are You Planting A Food Garden?
We have a small raised composite garden where we grow numerous kinds of hot peppers and some other types of herbs. There isn't enough space to grow any real produce.

Re: Are You Planting A Food Garden?
Plant every year. I've expanded from about 1/4 acre garden to just a tad less than a half acre.
Corn, tomatoes, pinkeye and purple hull, and crowders. I will be planting snow peas, potatoes, watermelon (Black Diamond and Dixie Queen), Cantelope, Carrots, onion seed and bulbs too. Crooked neck squash, and LIma beans along with an assortment of other things too.
Love to garden. My fingers always start itching for the dirt about this time of the year. I'm happy that there are others here that garden too. I'm thankful for some good equipment too.

Re: Are You Planting A Food Garden?
My gardening bible is The Joy of Gardening by Dick Raymond. I just love this book. It was published in the 70's so everyone looks...um, dated. ;D The pictures are the best part of the book...all the great step by step info, the neatly made wide rows, root cellar full of canned jars. Lots of pics of him using his Toro Horse, what a monster of a tiller. He lives in Vermont, such a beautiful state.

IF one has a garden they can always get some good fishing worms.

Half an acre! Yikes! Do you can all that?
