Re: Rangel "Censured"

JD - I am a little confused as to how the Rangel investigation was political. If the Republicans were in power, I think you could say that.
But with Charlie's own friends and fellow Democrats in control, how can it be political.
I personally think he thought he was above the law and did not think he would be caught.

The GOP will stick together, but Democrats usually don't.

Rangel started this mess on his own, in response to another accusation of impropriety.

This mess could have been a blind pursuit of justice, but it hardly ever works out like that from what I've seen.

Rangel is censured. He owes money. Ok. Is everything all better now? Nope.

Waste of money....

My point is that the money probably spent investigating this "criminal" for the last two years is not worth it.
That's absurd. If he was republican he'd be off to jail or at the very least be forced to resign

  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

If the circumstances were to be EXACTLY the same for a Republican as it was for Rangel, I don't think he would be off to jail or forced to resign.

His crime is not criminal enough to warrant jail or forced resignation.

Re: Rangel "Censured"

There is a republican rule that says if you've got some kind of charges pending, you're to step down...at least temporarily.
The dems have no such practice.

If this had been a republican his head would have rolled.

His crime was criminal enough for Snipes to go to jail. Seriously you don't think the IRS considers several years of failing to file a crime?

You're right, he should have just stepped down, retired and went home in the first place.
He could have single handed saved the tax payers any money involved.
