Secondly, the literature made it very very clear that the Pastor was in control of the content, "It is going to be like Pastor _________ is preaching...Pastor controlled content, etc..."

We'll see, I may give it a shot...
I guess it also depends on who else shows up, but I can't imagine your neighbor would encourage such.

As for the pastor controlled content, does he really think people are just going to read the lesson? Wait, don't answer that. I know some that will read it word for word.

We would have choir rehearsal an hour before sunday night service.

thanks.... I've actually been to Terry Black's church. I heard them sing a song and some of the lyrics said, "Now I can go into the holy of holies, I can make my petition known"... I don't remember all the words but it was beautiful! He also has an incredibly beautiful church....WOW!!!

thanks for info!

I don't go to that church now. They also had the best orcherstra you could imagine. I really miss that.

Although we have somewhat of an orcherstra, nothing like the church I grew up in.

Where I go now, mornings is usually a Chorale.

They always have great music here.

We know enough leaders to handle and assimilate the 3000 that were converted on the Day of Pentecost.

Jesus never told us to build churches, he told us to make disciples, because we have disobeyed him, we are stuck with a bunch of weak, underdeveloped believers who become dependent upon the system for survival.

My concept is very simple you can't fill up a car going 90 mile an hour down the road you have to stop. We eat in the morning and exercise in the evening.

He also didn't tell us not to and the early Christian church had synagogues to worship in. Their pattern of church apparently followed their Jewish structure of religon.

Likewise I don't think building churches is a bad or good thing today. It serves a purpose in certain cultures / societies.

In a closed atheistic society like Communist China churches do not make sense. Out of neccessity an "underground" church meeting in homes, barns, etc and in secrecy is what works for them.
