There's nothing wrong with stocking up on a few extra non perishable foods & bottled water. Especially when you live in the frozen north, tornado or hurricane prone areas. We've just never gone overboard with that type of thing. I never stocked a thing for Y2K-- just didn't feel led to do so. I don't still have dry beans from 2000. LOL
I know a person from another forum though that STILL has a large supply of toilet paper they stocked up on prior to Y2K.
I have some things stocked now, because I feel this is going to be a bad winter for our area, involving ice-- and I know what happens in this area when we get ice. The last "ice storm" left us without electricity for two weeks. I'd have loved to have owned a generator at that time. There is one that several families share ownership of. When things like that happen--all the neighborhood pitches in for fuel and the generator gets carried around in the back of a truck from house to house to keep people's freezers charged up so that food isn't lost.
Indeed... what she said...'cause it is what I said too.

It is a movie folks, let's not let fantasy confuse us with reality!!!! Don't go buy generators and stock up on dry food and bottled water, of course some of you may still have these things from Y2K. Well, hang on to them and you can still have them in 2012 and the 2030 etc, etc, etc......!!!!!
Actually the year 2038 could prove to be a REAL issue concerning a serious date bug in the same vein as Y2K, yet far far worse.
I PREDICT NOTHING WILL OCCUR IN 2012 worth considering along the lines of the hype proposed.
There. I've gone on record.
God would not use human sacrificing pagans to foretell the world's end or age's end, whatever, and leave His own people in the dark about it in His Word.
I am hoping come 12/21/2012 we are making BIG plans for a Republican inauguration!
That would be really cool.... plus liberals would think the world was at an end and that would make me happy too! hee hee.

It is another date bug. Every CPU, that has a built in clock, do not do it by following a calendar, rather the chips simply count seconds. This is based on a 32 bit counter which started in the early 70's. Once 2038 rolls around, this 32 bit counter will reset and we will be back to 1970 all over again!
