Fine with me.

If a child's parents believe that jewelry is a sin, then they should teach the child that belief. Not only is it their obligation, it's their right as parents. If the child then sees someone wearing jewelry, and thinks they are sinning, that's a natural conclusion--and children are blunt. LOL!!! It doesn't mean the parents are wrong for teaching the child what they believe.

My children have been taught that it's a sin to fornicate and shack up before you're married. So if they meet a couple who is living together, they immediately assume they aren't Christians.

Again--fine with me.

You're really making a mountain out of a molehill. Jeff was in the grocery store with Jeffrey one day, when Jeffrey was about 3. A man was checking out, covered with tattoos, even on his bald head. Jeffrey pointed, and loudly told his Daddy, "Daddy! There's a BAD MAN!!!!"

Who knows how he made that connection, but he did. It was awkward for Jeff at the time, but funny to all of us later. *shrug* Kids say silly things. It doesn't mean their parents are teaching them to be judgmental or mean.

This post sums its up great. Children are just honest.

Re: Sis. Alvear's grandaughter is a Holiness preac

This thread reminds me of an old Bill Cosby show about how kids say the funniest things and at the most inappropriate times!

It's funny how kids catch on fast to what we teach as parents...and if you break the rule...LOOK OUT! LOL

When I was 3, my mom and I were in the grocery store. Without thinking, this man came up behind us and picked up a pack of cigarettes. I immediately told him that he was going to hell, that Jesus didn't like that. Thankfully he was a backslider, so he understood where I was coming from. My mom was humiliated! And that man never did find his way back to God....

So, sometimes kids say and do the funniest things...I wish I still had that naive boldness somedays and that I could still get away with saying or doing what I really felt!!!

People that are offended at this need to get a life. If you have ever had a child you should KNOW that just because they SAY something does NOT mean they are being TAUGHT that - my little girl went up to someone once and told them they were going to die sooner because they were smoking - I have never told her that so I did not TEACH her to go up to people and tell them they were going to die if they were smoking - kids just do things - kids will tell overweight people they are fat - does that mean the parents tell them to go to up fat people and tell them they are FAT - mine has embarrassed me MANY times because of things she told people and TRUST me - I have no idea where she came up with it - let the little girl be a little girl - she will learn as she grows older - I mean look who her grandmother is!!!!!!

Re: Sis. Alvear's grandaughter is a Holiness preac

I know kids make mistakes all the time... even though I made very few. LOL!! Just kidding. I sometimes think I am reaping what I had sewn as lifelong rebel.

Having said that, we would have a long discussion and possibly punishment if they started casting specific individuals into hell.

Re: Sis. Alvear's grandaughter is a Holiness preac

We should start a thread of things our kids have said that made us just want to crawl up in a hole and die - am sure it would be very entertaining!
