Sitting in a chair and having some stranger repeatedly poke a needle into my skin after it has already been repeatedly poked into another person? I'd jump up and punch the tattoo artist in the face as he's beginning the first poke.

And that would be a poor witness, so I just stay away.
They don't reuse needles (at least they shouldn't) as a future doctor I know the health risks of getting a tattoo. I went to a very prominent tattoo artist and also paid a lot for the tattoo.

I personally feel that ones attitude is much more of a bad witness than a tattoo.

Well, I have a very fit body, my ribs (where the tattoo is) are not fat or bulky and the tattoo is very neat.

Personally I think it looks nice and others that have seen it agree, but I don't think that means everyone would agree. I just think there are some tattoos that can be done tactfully and in good taste.

And when they pull out the needle - new or used... my attitude worsens a bit.

You're probably right overall. It's a "tribal" and cultural thing. It should be evaluated in those contexts. Leviticus 19:28 spells it out under the Law. The prohibition against "printing marks" seems to refer to "for the dead."

There were and still are some powerful tribal customs involving the intentional scarring or tattooing of oneself whenever a significant life episode had been encountered. Of course, one of the most significant episodes in life is the loss of a loved one.

The red cross doesn't take blood from people with recent tatts

Wait 12 months after a tattoo if the tattoo was applied in a state that does not regulate tattoo facilities. This requirement is related to concerns about hepatitis. Learn more about hepatitis and blood donation.

Acceptable if the tattoo was applied by a state-regulated entity using sterile technique. Only a few states currently regulate tattoo facilities, so most donors with tattoos must wait 12 months after tattoo application before donating blood. You should discuss your particular situation with the health historian at the time of donation.
I don't know how far you ae in school but there is skin born bacteria that is used to contaminate the would with its thousands of needle pricks in a single art work. There are high rates of blood diseases with folks with tattoos.

It is nearly impossible to make the skin surface sterile.

At first, I wondered how any sane member of Congress, assuming one still exists, could vote for a "stimulus package" -- notice the spa-like description -- containing $200,000 for "tattoo removal."
some Christian schools will not grant admission to youth with tattoos. Some will if they have them removed.
