I am not speaking against large families, I have 6 children of my own. But many cultures know that if you are going to survive as a culture you must have a lot of children.
I saw an article about a Jew in the Golon heights recently. He said that most of the settlers in the heights were young families that had between 6-12 children. He said that was the norm!
Furthermore he went on and said "These families were doing what they could for the furtherance of the Jewish state".
That is why this family does not mind to have 8 at a time. It is looking long range.
