I can deal with the other stuff, but to call Anna Nicole Smith a "ho"!
She may be a skank, but she ain't no "Ho"!
Uh.....I think she was but never the less that should not be something coming over the pulpit.
Some people think preaching it "straight" or "hard" is an excuse for being crude and tactless. You can call sin sin without those kinds of personal attacks.
1. We are encouraging our children to attend Bible School, and/or secular college. They certainly will not be skipping any school to take a GED and settle for a job at McDonald's!!!!!
2. I would be curious to know if the speaker attended Bible school?
3. As for calling Anna Nicole a "whore"....it's in bad taste, but frankly the other points offend me more.

I will just say that this type of preaching is just plain out wrong. To even call it preaching is wrong. With propoganda like this...it just speaks to what people have said about the UPC for so long....discourage education and going to college. It's hard to argue that it does not happen when you have people like this, invited to speak at a convention, and spew this junk.

I am ALL for calling sin sin. I think it should be done. However, the moment you attack the sinner personally...I don't think that is appropriate...ever.
To be fair: The speaker no doubt overstated his point--however, there is something to be said for kids learning how to place a large priority upon commitment to God and His will for their lives, along with pursuing a very necessary secular education. (Which isn't always necessary, or for everyone!!!! *gasp*) But of course, I don't think getting an education should be disparaged or discouraged. I would be a pretty irritated parent if my daughter came home from youth convention telling me she wanted to quit school and take her GED, and had no plans to attend college!!!!

It really depends on the context. I heard a sermon about Gomer and Hosea in which Gomer was referred to, tongue-in-cheek as a "two-bit-ho", and it was funny, not offensive. However, most speakers can't pull those kinds of things off without offense, and really ought to avoid the obnoxious.
Jeff Arnold and a couple of others are the only ones who can really get away with that kind of language, and quite honestly, I doubt if JA would ever use that towards a sinner...he'd be more likely to direct it at a hypocritical saint!!!!

Uh, I only have a GED and I own a business, employ other people, live in a nice house, provide for my family so my wife doesn't have to work and do fairly well thank you.
You ought to be more careful about your ignorant sterotypes. I know many college educated losers, some even worked for me before I fired them.

If it's good enough for J.A. - it's good enough for youth camp, you can't have it both ways.
