Re: Here's to My Heroes

Rev. William Ray Johnson who pastors in Denham Springs, LA is one of the greatest Christians I have ever known. He is truly humble, always putting others ahead of himself. His motto is: "Others, my Lord, others...let that my motto be. When I have lived and died for others, I will have lived and died like Thee."

"Wake Up ! We're Rich!"

Wolves were picking off the livestock of ranchers at an alarming rate, so the state offered a bounty of $5,000 for every wolf killed. Two good ol' down home country boys, Jethro and his friend Zach, decided to go into the wolf hunting business.

They had been out hunting wolves all day and into the night, and made camp way up in the mountains near a beautiful little stream. About four o'clock the next morning, Jethro woke up to see their camp surrounded by thirty or forty wolves. In the light of the dying campfire, he could see the blood-lust in their eyes, and the white of their exposed, razor-sharp teeth. He could also see that they were about ready to spring. "Hey, Zach," he whispered. "Wake up! We're Rich!" Men with a vision see problems as possibilities.

A blind man's world is bounded by the limits of his touch; an ignorant man's world by the limits of his knowledge; a great man's world by the limits of his vision (E. Paul Hovey/1908-).

Luke 1:37 “ For with God nothing shall be impossible”.

Re: Here's to My Heroes

It's hard to make a list like this because there are so many that I have learned from and have respected over the years.

A hero to me would be Bro. Lester Thompson who was my pastor for the brief time I attended Bethel Tabernacle in Racine, Wisconsin in 1955 and 1956.

Another would be Bro. S.G. Norris. I learned a lot from him.

F.E. Curts was my pastor from 1957 until some time in the early nineteen sixties when we left that UPC church. The man was a great Bible teacher and I learned a lot from him.

Another hero would be my current pastor, Wendell Coning, who has such a love for people -especially youth and children.

My wife is a hero to me. She has put up with me for over 50 years. I am a better person for being associated with her over the years.

Other heroes are some of the ladies who have been "prayer warriors" over the years. Some have gone on to their reward. Others are still ministering in prayer.

Thanks for posting this. It blessed me when I read it and was reminded of it today while I prayed in church.
