Re: A Word Fitly Spoken....Prophets in the Church
I think this story applies when it comes to making room for the Prophetic in one's life and the blessing that results.
2 Kings 4:8-17
8 Now it happened one day that Elisha went to Shunem, where there was a notable woman, and she persuaded him to eat some food. So it was, as often as he passed by, he would turn in there to eat some food. 9 And she said to her husband, “Look now, I know that this is a holy man of God, who passes by us regularly. 10 Please, let us make a small upper room on the wall; and let us put a bed for him there, and a table and a chair and a lampstand; so it will be, whenever he comes to us, he can turn in there.”
11 And it happened one day that he came there, and he turned in to the upper room and lay down there. 12 Then he said to Gehazi his servant, “Call this Shunammite woman.” When he had called her, she stood before him. 13 And he said to him, “Say now to her, ‘Look, you have been concerned for us with all this care. What can I do for you? Do you want me to speak on your behalf to the king or to the commander of the army?’”
She answered, “I dwell among my own people.”
14 So he said, “What then is to be done for her?”
And Gehazi answered, “Actually, she has no son, and her husband is old.”
15 So he said, “Call her.” When he had called her, she stood in the doorway. 16 Then he said, “About this time next year you shall embrace a son.”
And she said, “No, my lord. Man of God, do not lie to your maidservant!”
17 But the woman conceived, and bore a son when the appointed time had come, of which Elisha had told her.

Re: A Word Fitly Spoken....Prophets in the Church
I know there has been a lot of abuse and wackiness in the area of the gifts, but I can't imagine trying to do the work of God without the supernatural.
That would be like driving through a dangerous mountain pass at midnight with no headlights.
Or at best, like trying to build a skyscraper with no power tools.

Amos your words struck a chord in me. Remember the Psalm that reads #21
Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death thou art with me. Thy Rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Well this is a real place and its a very dark road that if a person travels on it they can be easily overtaken by robbers. Jesus can guide us into whatever dark place and we can be sure that He will Shepherd us all the way out unto the place of our destiny.

Re: A Word Fitly Spoken....Prophets in the Church
Many years ago, Charles Pierce prophesied over my relatives. He had never seen them and the pastor of that particular church did not know they would be there that night. They were pastoring a church about 3 hours away and on the spur of the moment felt to drive to that service. Brother Pierce did not even know they pastored. They had been looking at a church building and property for their church. No one knew of this.
He walked to them in the service. Told the man that the building he was looking at was the one for the church - told him the price the seller would accept - then proceeded to describe the building and it's condition. Told them that there was one board under the eave (told them which eave, but I don't remember how he described it) that would need to be replaced, but not to worry, there would be no further damage behind it (dry rot, termite ect). As he turned to walk way, he came back and told them that the "house" would meet their family needs. They had no idea what he was talking about when he said "house".
The next week, they met with the realtor and went over the building again - sure enough, right where Brother Pierce described the damaged board, it was there. The realtor was surprised at their offer - told them it was too low - then he said, "did you see the parsonage that will go with the building?" - and there was a beautiful brick four bedroom home about 1/2 mile from the church that was included. My relative stuck with his offer - and it was accepted!

Re: A Word Fitly Spoken....Prophets in the Church
Wow I do to. I am looking forward to my new house. I have been teasing my husband because he said I could have a big dog when we get a home of our own. I want a Golden Retriever puppy. I have an article that I published on our site called, " Living in the Realm of Faith." I included a picture of the puppy I want. Today on my way home from work while talking on the phone I told him that I am going to need a big kennel that will fit in the back of my van because I am going to take that dog walking and to the park. I am serious and am getting ready for the word of the Lord.
Brother Keith what you posted about the woman who received after making room in her home for the prophet spoke to me. I am going to remember that.
