California. Our pool is part of the high cost and, no, it is not heated.

If my pool was responsible for a light bill like that then it would quickly become the cement pond. Buy some fish and throw them in there... (after you let the chlorine level drop of course)

dude with costs like that, it justifies biting the bullet and going solar or wind.

Cali is a great place to be to make your one electricity!

No freestanding stoves cannot be vented into the duct work, that would be more like a furnace. With a beautiful freestanding stove there are more considerations than net heat gain... think ambiance, cozy, romantic... peace of mind, self sufficiency...

As far as heat dissemination from the free standing stove zone... a simple timer can be added to your existing furnace fan causing it to run a few minutes every 15 or 20 min.. This will help to mix the temperature throughout the home.

Wood consumption and clean air are two reasons why your purchase for an outdoor furnace should only be one that has achieved the voluntary (soon will become mandated) EPA compliance of 2010.

This newer generation of OWF use 30 - 40% less wood than the older style and burn clean enough that jurisdictions that previously forbade their use are rethinking it.

Yes you would go outside to load. Twice a day in the winter and about every other day in the summer if used for hot water and pool heat.
