You are correct. This election says that, thanks to McCain-Feingold, the media selects the party nominees, and quite probably the winner, in presidential elections from now on. They selected McCain because they knew he would be easier to beat than a true conservative, and he was Maverick enough to be palatable to liberals if he accidentally won. He's basically a Reagan Democrat. The media picked both McCain and Obama.
This election says that the media has done a stunning con job at convincing the people that "Bush lied & people died."
This election says that conservatives were fed up with garbage like amnesty, prescription drug welfare, and the bailout coming from Washington-insider big-spending big-government Republicans and the Bush administration. The evidence is the increased margins in the congress, even though their approval numbers were lower than the president's.
This election says that now, like no other time in history, the American people are more susceptible than ever to media manipulation. The evidence for this is the DEMOCRATs waking up the morning after and saying, 'who is this guy we just elected? What is he going to do?'
This election says that we have transitioned from a nation built on logic and reason and now decide with emotion and passion. International peer pressure has become more important than international terrorism.

2. The economic free fall

Some say that the economic crisis was a timely gift orchestrated by George Soros and friends manipulating commodity and futures markets. We built a great deal of the inherent problems into our economy ourselves, but this was enough to tip it over the edge.

If the Obama administration makes the mistake of instituting liberal policies assuming America is left of center, they will be voted out of office in the next election in a landslide.

Some, working on the theory that Obama is a puppet, say that a great many of the radical leftist stuff will not be attempted. Evidence for this is supposedly the "selection" of Rahm Emmanuel as chief of staff. A good place for a well-connected Chicago machine pol to keep tight rein.

I sincerely hope that Obama doesn't lean too much to the liberal extremists that supported him and gave him credence when his campaign was at the grass roots level.
A wrong economic policy can lead us from a recession to a depression.

The stock market the past two days shares your optimism.

Obama could enjoy 90+% popularity if his first move in office was to wipe out Iran's nuke sites. That would actually be almost as scary as weakness and decay.

America needs to pray that Obama has wisdom to make good decisions, without regard to extremists on both the liberal and conservative camps.

I think we just need to be ready to love people and share the gospel with them, because there is great potential for people to turn to God in the near future.

Yes, and in many ways. They picked a "Republican" candidate designed from the get go to be a loveable loser. They stirred up discontent by talking about how bad the economy was - before it turned bad. They have done everything in their power to turn people's hearts away from President Bush.

I disagree. All conservatives, and most Republicans, have no interest in unifying themselves with the radical leftist elements in the Democrat party - the elements now in leadership all the way to the top!

Up to this point
We have had 2 Black Secretaries of State, one being a female
1 Black Supreme Court Justice
1 Leading Black Woman who is now a Billionaire
For almost 13% of the population that is significant. But you saw no tears in the eyes or cries of Euphoria in the streets because these blacks didn't meet the template and didn't come through the Rainbow coalition system

It will take quite the pretzel logic indeed for the Jesse Jackson types to maintain that blacks are still oppressed, and that any perceived plight is all the fault of "evil white government policy."
I am just whacked by the notion that some members of minority groups did not think they could make it in this country until yesterday. If this is what it takes to encourage and motivate them, great. But I suspect they will be in for some disappointment when they learn that their personal obstacles haven't changed, and Obama isn't actually going to help them very much.
