The Cubs won with a gland slam by Cubs shortstop Paul Popovich!
I miss the walks home from school with my friends, and stopping by this house that had a big pear tree in the back yard. I would knock down a pear and eat it while we walked the rest of the way home!
I miss going to Illinois District Youth Camps which I looked forward to all year!

Me too!! This was the highlight of my year.

This was an every Sunday ritual at our house! The Florida Boys, the Happy Goodmans, the Blackwood Brothers, the Dixie Echoes,...........I grew up on that stuff.

Re: What do you miss from your childhood??
Listening to the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday night on the radio.
The outhouse (well not really!)
Howdy Doody
Sunday dinners, usually fried chicken,
Knowing everyone in my neighborhood and doors were never locked. Everyone was always welcome at our dinner table.

Re: What do you miss from your childhood??
Warm evening summers in Illinois
Watching lightening bugs
One room schools.
playing hide and seek.
Riding my bicycle wherever I wanted to go.
Not having to lock the car doors when parking the car.
Not having to lock house doors and shut windows at night or when we went somewhere.
Listening to Jack Armstrong, Capt. Midnight and the Lone Ranger on the radio.
Most of all the safety of doing all those things.
Five cent cokes, five cent candy bars, five cent bus fares and .!6 cent a gallon gas.

You are telling your age! lol.
I remember these things I underlined too. The first school I attended was a one room school. It is now a community center.
