PO, I enjoy debating back and forth with you and respect most of your opinions. I think the statement that Barack Obama isn't "a true American" is beneath you. That's very harsh and unfounded.

Palin Gaining Support Among Gays
Thursday, September 18, 2008 1:22 PM

By: Tim Collie

Sarah Palin is gaining support from an unlikely group: gay and lesbian Alaskans.

Despite her evangelical Christian roots, some openly gay residents of towns throughout Alaska describe Palin as more of a libertarian in her approach to same-sex issues in the Land of the Midnight Sun.

Writing on several blogs, men and women who describe themselves as openly gay say the governor is known for her tolerance and warmth. They dismiss her opposition to same-sex marriage and other issues as political posturing.

A vast state with a small population — fewer than 700,000 people — the Palin supporters describe a go-along, get-along approach to governing that they hope will serve as a template if the McCain-Palin ticket wins in November, they say....

I have so much information on people he runs with that I can't think of him in any other way. I'm not apologizing for it. Obama needs to answer some questions.

And listen, if Lynn Rothschild pulls Democratic support and gives it to McCain saying, "Someone needs to ask Obama questions about his past associations until he answers", there is something rotten in Denmark.

He has ties through Rezko with people who worked with Saddam Hussein. You can check the archives in the Chicago papers.

Re: Remind me - Who is voting FOR McCain?

I honestly can't think of one other Presidential election in which the candidate has had the notion of not being a TRUE AMERICAN leveled at them ... it causes one to pause and reflect at what are the underlying dynamics here ...

There were suspicions of JFK turning over the country to the Pope by some rumormongers ... but the President of Camelot was never deemed as being UnAmerican.

There is a lot to be said ... I won't say it.

This is the same guilt by association tactic used to making all women who use eye make up ... Jezebels and harlots.

Sadder.

I think questioning or criticizing a person's patriotism and "true" love of America is over the line.

GWB and I disagree on almost every issue but abortion. I think his decisions for the country have been disastrous and will take decades to overcome, but I don't question his love for America or patriotism.

We disagree on most things, but he's an American just like I am and loves the country.

1. There's certainly nothing wrong with voting against one person by voting for the opponent. That's called strategy.

2. Secondly, I've never been much of a McCain fan--I would have much preferred Mitt Romney be the Republican candidate. BUT I do like Sarah Palin--not because she's a new face, or because she's pretty, but because she's conservative on most issues, and she seems to have done a good job being Governor of Alaska. So she has given me something to like about the ticket I'm already voting for.

It's blatantly (and painfully) obvious when one examines even here .... the number of anti-Obama threads and the cutesy Palin avatars ... while others are entranced by the "Palin effect" ... little is offered as to the reasons why we should vote for McCain ... in any.
I think Sarah Palin is great...she's one of those (seemingly) got-it-all-together women. Great career, beautiful family, good marriage, etc. Intelligent and articulate, and she's pretty on top of it all. Yet, there's evidence that they've had hard times and difficulties just like everyone else. So in this case...she's the kind of "super-mom" many of us aspire to be. AND she shares my values. What's not to like?

Liberals are so upset because people like her--LOL--have them produce an equally likeable candidate--and good luck with that. I'm sure Sarah Palin has chinks in her armor. What matters is how she handles them--not whether she has them.

Quote:
Even Rush ... is guilty of this ... once a McCain hater, most of his show now is dedicated to everything other than why he's voting FOR McCain.
You obviously don't get Rush. I've listened to him for years. When I was a teenager, I listened to him with my Dad. He has his favorites, especially during the nomination process, but once the campaign is on, he kicks into purely Republican party mode, and supports the candidate. As he should. And he has never been a "McCain hater." However, McCain does have a problem getting very conservative voters for several [good] reasons, and Sarah Palin will help him with that--hopefully.

This isn't really that mind-boggling. If I'm miffed by McCain's lack of conservatism on certain issues, then I certainly couldn't be easily persuaded to vote for a liberal like Obama.

Quote:
So why are you not voting FOR McCain again?

If McCain's health holds up ... you are are aware VP's are largely ceremonial and powerless .... right?

You do know that Obama is not the anti-Christ, Muslim or a communist despite what talk radio and email chains feed you day in and day out ... right?
I certainly don't think Obama is the antiChrist, and even though he has Muslim roots, he doesn't (really seem to) embrace Islam. He DOES embrace communist ideals--but so does Hillary Clinton. So do most liberals for that matter.

Quote:
Are you voting on McCain's resolute stand on "Conservative" issues? Doubt it ... if so you'd be voting for Paul or Barr.
Not true. In this case, I am voting to keep one person OUT of the white house just as much as I am voting to put another one in. Voting for Ron Paul or Bob Barr wouldn't accomplish anything at all, in the larger scheme of things. I might as well just stay home on election day.

Quote:
When you get a chance take an inventory of the "conservative" analysts you laud and how they are approaching this election ... take a look at how your fellow forumites are approaching this .... and even your own reasons why you are not voting FOR McCain ...
Well, I like how Sean Hannity, Rush Limbauth and others are "approaching the election." They have issues and election strategy in mind. I like both approaches. If you want to pretend that Democrats don't make strategic decisions, both in the voting booth and higher up on the political totem poll, then you are only foolin' yourself.

Quote:
might be a healthy exercise ... it might tell you about THE MAN McCain. It's a campaign based on hate, negativity, pandering and misdirection, IMO.

I'll pre-baptize this thread w/ the following accolades .... for my anti-Obama/Palin voter friends ...

And yes... TRUTH HAS BEEN SPOKEN HERE.
Nah. Just more liberal gobbledy-gook.
