UPDATE: After this story aired on "Nightline," Fresh Fire Ministries released a statement announcing that preacher Todd Bentley would be taking time off "to refresh and to rest" after having spent four months in Lakeland, Fla., leading revival meetings. Their Lakeland broadcasts on GOD TV were put on hold. Bentley returned on July 18 and has resumed broadcasting from Lakeland.
Did the press release mention that his foot is all rested and he is ready and willing to start kicking cancer patients again?

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
Quote from Ethel Goss (widow of 1st UPC Gen Supt. Howard Goss) book "The Winds of God"
Every Pentecostal needs to watch Marjoe, not be unbelieving and skeptics but be a little skeptical though and discerning, not gullible. Miracles happen but not because a guy with a goatee or five feet of hair slaps you in the head
Watch Marjoe Gortner? Every Pentecostal should also slice themselves with paper cuts and roll around in lemon juice?
Prax, that is where dicerenment comes in.
No one needs to catch a virus to learn about bacteria.

Apparently many don't have a lot of discernment....they are trusting and they trust people that stand behind the pulpit and preach in Pentecostal circles. Watching Marjoe won't hurt them. It will open their eyes that not everything is what it seems

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
Every sinner must repent of their sins.
That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.
Too bad he didn't quit a long time ago. However, he hasn't truly quit. His kind never do. He'll raise his fraudulent head again somewhere else and woo some other gullible souls in. Pathetic!
In 6 months to a year he'll back selling free energy devices and "dealerships".
Apparently many don't have a lot of discernment....they are trusting and they trust people that stand behind the pulpit and preach in Pentecostal circles. Watching Marjoe won't hurt them. It will open their eyes that not everything is what it seems

I always tread lightly around topics like this and try to use wisdom in condemning people like Todd Bentley. My spirit never agreed with his methods and even his message. When signs and wonders become the thing you seek, instead of the Author of the signs and wonders then the mark is missed.
Where does this saying come from?
I dont know, and I am not faulting you Mike, because I have heard it said before, I am just using your post to make a point-I hope you dont take it personal.
It's just seems like a cop out to me.
Signs and wonders should be the norm, if they are suppose to follow us--plus the bible says to earnestly desire the best gifts. We should expect things to happen when we pray (including praying for the sick ect) and really be amazed when they don't.
Of course I believe we need to be balanced and not just get caught up in "getting a word" or "giving a word" but just because of Todd Bentley we dont need to be afraid of spiritual gifts and give them and anyone else who operates in them a bad name.
