This is elementary stuff really.
Anytime there are 600 Starbucks closed in one foul swoop it has ramifications. The hand of the Beast who controls all the vials of espresso on the earth is strengthened in this move.
(6) 00 starbucks closings =
(6) seals of vacuum packed beans x

Need I say more??

They charged about half of what Starbucks charges, so it saved the saints money. Gradually, word got around that the coffee was great.
Of course the coffee stand closed 10 minutes before church, so everyone had to get there early to get their yummy, yet cheap coffee. Visitors were offered a free cup, so many of them began staying after church to fellowship. All in all it worked out great.
The Coffee basically paid for itself! The saints started showing up early, and the visitors were blessed!
I think it is a great idea.
My brother put a small bar in the back foyer of the church he pastors...the bar matches the decor of the church and all...also used as reception area... in the colder months, they serve Starbucks coffee every Sunday... it is free to everyone and I have to admit...very nice thing to do. In the summer months, they have a large container w/spout w/ ice cold lemon water/lemon aid... lemons floating in it....looks very pretty. I don't like lemons in drinks, so it isn't my thing.
Starbucks to cut up to 12,000 jobs, close 600 stores
Starbucks Corp (SBUX.O) said on Tuesday it plans to close 600 underperforming stores and eliminate as many as 12,000 full- and part-time positions....
The company, which has been grappling with the slowing U.S. economy and consumer spending at the same time that major competitors like McDonald's Corp (MCD.N) have begun attacking its core business, now plans to close a total of 600 underperforming stores by the end of March 2009.

Now this... This I agree is definitely a harbinger of the end of days....

How ironic.
Only two months ago, people on this forum were laughing themselves silly when I posted that we were heading into a recession. Well, here we are.
Yesterday, two different companies in St. Louis announced they are closing up shop. The region is losing 4500 of the highest paid jobs.
That does not even include Anheuser Busch, who very well may become the victim of InBev's hostile takeover very shortly.
Add to that skyrocketing fuel and food prices and we have a recipe for a depression, not a recession.
There is simply no real growth in our economy at all.

a few months ago, I said we were not in a resession. we still arent.
we shall see what the next quarter holds but while things have slowed down, that doesnt mean things have retracted.
Inbevs hostile tak over of AB doesnt mean anything really as it relates to resession or depression. that kind of thing happens in strong economies.
if we do have a resession, it will just be another in a long line of resessions.... and I suspect in keeping with the last 50 year history, it wont be very bad. Even if it is, we will come out of it, and things will get better.
This thing isnt nearly as bad as you think... unless the Iranians attack Israel... then all bets are off.
