Forget laws that would outlaw speculation.... Just the announcement of a major drilling project in the USA (even though there would not be a single refined drop in 12-15 years) would have the same results.

In my opinion, $2 a gallon gasoline would be more in line with where it should be.

Bottled water and Cokes are more than $2.00 a gallon. In fact, there's a lot of things that are more than $2.00 a gallon, and these items take a lot less money to make them than gasoline.

Brother, I used to work for a friend of my dad's at the gas station he owned. A 32 oz soda, including the water, ice, cup, and syrup cost him 13 cents. In fact, if you buy bottled soda, the cost of the plastic bottle it's in costs more to make than the soda itself. I don't doubt for a minute that it costs more to make gasoline than soda, but I know it doesn't cost all that much to make soda.
