Re: George Carlin Dead at 71

I think it's fair to take note that he wasn't known for being wholesome. LOL!!! Even CBS News called attention to his foul mouthed ways in their report this morning.

No one is happy the man is dead, or worse, that he probably wasn't on good terms with his maker.

But let the dead be remembered for their lives...whatever their lives entailed. Let's not paint a black fence white.

Gustav, I discuss people in the news with my children and use them as object lessons--as what not to do, what not to be, who NOT to emulate. (As well as pointing out successes and admirable qualities)

Being a Christian doesn't mean you have to swallow the politically correct nonsense hook, line and sinker--in fact, Jesus was the opposite of diplomatic.

Honesty is good.

Re: George Carlin Dead at 71

Carlin had such an influence in comedy in the 70's, I hate to admit I was one of those not so privileged to hear those 7 words not said on TV routine of his. I think in the summer 1975 or 76 our entire block of kids had those filthy words memorized. ( for which I must plea the blood over my mind because of the memory)

I really don't care if this sounds judgmental or not, it's the truth: WHAT a horrible tribute to be remembered for? He will go down as foot note in history as the one who came up with the list of vulgarities not said on TV.

I will say he had a comic genius, he did do some narrating for Thomas the Train, I will give him a for that. But no kudos for helping me embrace a foul mouth at a young age-

Every time one of these celebrities dies it makes me think of the finality of death and how we run out of chances to get things right with God

I haven't had someone I knew personally die in a long while, Carp, so I don't usually think about death until I read about a celebrity meeting their end. The last person I can think of, who I knew personally, was Brother Boots Campbell.
