I think the elders should be the church board and I think it's up to the Holy Ghost to appoint the elders (whether through the pastor or an apostle, doesn't really matter to me, as long as it's the Holy Ghost actually appointing them). I don't believe in running the church like a democracy.

Sorry my bored friend. I was just looking over some very old church by-laws and had a question.

Maybe more to come.............

If they have documented proof of any monies they have given into the church that year the legal system counts them as members and they can prosecute if they want. They have a vested interest.
This is not true. It is also a very dangerous statement to make.
Think of the silliness of what you are saying.

If someone writes a check for $1.00 in a given year they are a voting member? Even if they are from a satanic cult? Perposterous!!!!!

The truth is that a church DEFINES who can or cannot be a member within its bylaws. There can be varying levels of membership. Most churches distinguish between voting and non-voting members. Bylaws are legally binding.

Rhoni, you need to weigh your words more carefully.

Most meetings have a roster of who is eligible to participate in that meeting.

Pastor Poster,

I am talking about financial matters, such as where monies have been spent, ect...you don't have to me a bonafide member by the by-laws to question finances in a church, all you have to prove is that you have financially given...this was my understanding in the 1980's as told to us by an attorney. I am sure every state is different but the church is under fire and it behooves us to be more than careful with finances in a church. Good stewardship and accurate documentation is essential.

So many things have been done in secret and many of you fear the things I know being brought into the open but don't you think it is time for us to get things straightened out instead of hiding behind our robes of self-righteousness and pride? The Bible tells us that if we will...humble oursleves, seek his face in repentance that he will restore and heal our land [paraphrased]. Healing can only happen when repentance and humility is involved.

Sincerely, Rhoni
