Well, family and friends...I seem to be the bearer of
bad tidings. Today the story is totally different. The
church in Jackson TN that Ron and Patty Brown pastored
for around 20 years was destroyed last night in a
tornado.
I rec'd an e-mail alerting me to the fact from one of
my informants :-) I immediately called Patty. Here's
some of the facts.
The church building is destroyed. The outside (east)
wall where the bathrooms and nursery were is not even
standing. The roof is basically gone..the other
outside walls are buckled. You can stand in the
parking lot and look right through to the offices
(west side). The beautiful steeple is wrapped around
the pillars at the front of the building. The gym is
standing...one corner was damaged.
Patty was home alone when the tornado struck. She hid
in a closet. Ron was on his way home from St. Louis
and was about 1/4 mile from home. I'm not sure what he
did. Right afterwards they went to the church. Bro.
Lance had been having revival services for several
nights but (for the first time in his ministry)
cancelled church that night. There were four families
there. The ladies had been hiding in a closet, the men
were in the vestibule looking out the front windows.
When a flash of lightening came, they saw the funnel
so ran for a closet. None were hurt.
Of course, everything is covered with insurance but
that can never restore all that's been lost. The
church was built around the late 80's early 90's and
was totally paid for. (at the turn of the century, i
believe)
I need to get this out. You can send this around. This
is not hearsay...I actually talked to Patty and she
was there last night and again this morning.
