I have skimmed this thread and just want to make some general comments:
I just don't throw names out of people that I know, but I am a close friend of Vonnie. Thad is too. Aaron, Vonnie, Thad and I have had some great times at different music conferences across this nation. One of the things that we have always talked about is Kurt. If you have been a member of this forum (and the latters) for a while, you will know that my choir sang in concert with them (KC and Singers) which Thad played for as well. We all spent 3 days with him. He is a quiet man...reserved and shy almost. He does not care what kind of crowd he draws...he gives his all.
Kurt is not the only one to see a difference in Vonnie....so does his singers. They have discussions about her (and I stress HER) standards and she is firm and unwaivering. If she was going to change...she would have done it loooong time ago. But, to her, it is a personal issue....of which she has strong convictions about. She does not present it as "my church believes this..." but that "this is what I believe for me." It was her arrival to the group that made Kurt change his dress code for the female singers in his group....no more pants...they had to wear dresses. His female singers are also the most modest of any of the other singers out there. The other thing...Kurt has sat with Vonnie and they have discussed this doctrine (Oneness) that we hold and know to be true.
God uses the right people to reach a certain group. Vonnie is down to earth. I have seen wrong be done to her, and she will not speak negatively about them. She has taught me a thing or two on how to treat those that come against you. But that also speaks to her upbringing.....Murrell and Joan Ewing are some of the finest people walking this earth. I have great respect for them.
I was invited, by Vonnie, to be in Lake Charles today and this weekend (instead, I am going to NorCal next week to be with them and Thad). She told me a little over a month ago that Kurt would be an invited guest to their Christmas Concert and that she was excited about it. Since being with Kurt, he has been in 3 UPC churches and have left those churches talkiing about "they have it." I hope that he feels the Lord like never before in the service and that he and others who come to the concert are changed for the better.
Next Saturday night, Aaron, Vonnie, Thad and I will be sitting in a restaurant and talking about what we are all doing. I am certain this topic will come up. I hope what has been said will be the result.
And yes Sandra....it is a new day.

My kids are members at Eastwood and sponsors of the event. I had an invitation to sit on the second row with them but alas, my church is having our "Country Christmas" the same evening and I would never miss my church special to attend someone else's special event. It is tough but obedience is better than sacrifice and obedience with Sacrifice tops them all.

Thing is....she sees them as "personal" convictions to her...not anything that an organization has placed on her. She feels this is what is right for HER...AND she does not impose it on others or place her convictions on others as going to hell or heaven. Believe me, some of the girls have asked and wanted her to do this or that and she is emphatic about it. They know she has something special and they recognize her standing by her personal convictions is what makes her special and brings in an anointing. They respect it and knows she is something special.
I can respect people, whether I agree or not, when it is done this way.
