Re: Tithes
I agree with you Sean about tithing. I just take different roads about getting there.

Re: Tithes
We represent Jesus to the sinner world and stand in a mediatory role to them, with the gospel.
If you want typology to teach....
Jesus is the equivalent of the High Priest.
The saints are the equivalent of the Levitical priesthood.
The sinners are the equivalent of the non-priest 11 tribes.

Re: Tithes
I have been solely supported by sinners my entire life, they unwittingly tithe(give) to me for my ministry to the world.

I don't teach that there is, but that is out of context if you use that annul faithfully giving to the work of God. If people choose tithing as that method it doesn't make them a sinner. It is when their methods over run the voice of God that it is wrong, or when they condemn others for not meeting their ideal mark.

No, sinners would not be the equivalent of the non-priest 11 tribes. Your typology is incorrect.
Even though the other 11 tribes were not part of the priesthood, they were still God's children. Sinners are sinners, they are not part of the body of Christ. Sinners would be the equivalent of the Egyptians or Philistines.
Your typology says sinners are part of the body of Christ. That, in any version of the Bible (even the MESSage version), is incorrect.

The problem G.S., is the very "suggestion" of tithing as a way to give. The word "tithing" ended for the believer as the Law ended for the believer.
Do we suggest circumcision also?
It was before the Law.
People think the church is a racket because of the very suggestion of tithing.

If someone is seeking an office in the church, isn't it valuable to know whether they are found faithful?

GS God made it very clear what was to be tithed. All the trades were prevalent and money was in circulation. Those not involved in food production were not required to tithe.

Of course it incorrect david, but it is closer than what we are taught here by our pastors....
Jesus is our High Priest...
The Pastorial office is our sub-high priest...
The 11 non-priestly tribes are the saints.
