The bible is very clear about church attendance, blame the preacher all you want but you should be actively looking for a new church home if you cant submit to the one you currently have or had.....To just not go, well, that's on you and it's wrong.......it's far more than a pastor asking his saints to not wear a moustache or short sleeves on the platform.

We all draw our lines in the sand at different points, who cares if some are more conservative than others? Is it REALLY that big of a deal?? You are a grown person, if you dont agree, the pastor isnt going to whip you or hang you from the highest tree at sunset, you just probably wont be on the platform. So?? And if the pastor is some kind of tyrant, well find another one...but get off your butt and LOOK for one!. Stop sitting back and making excuses.

Wonder how long someone would stay employed at McDonalds if they refused to wear that USELESS visor?

Maybe I've missed another thread and I don't know if this thread is a piggyback off of another one....but where has anyone said they don't attend a church because of some particular church's standards...I guess I am befuddled by the "get off your butt" comment as I did not notice anyone sitting.

Exactly. When people truly move on, the UPC becomes an era in their life that they either loved or hated. It no longer influences their life today negatively nor positively.

Its like this. You live next door to a family that has a friendly looking dog that is as viscious as a wolverine with a snake bite on his butt.

You make several attempts at being friendly, the dog looks so harmless. But every time you go to try and pet the dog, or if your ball goes over the fence, the dog wants to eat you. The dog for some reason even gets along ok with the kids on the other side of their yard but not you.

Finally after dressing your wounds and they heal, your scars remind you not to approach the fence again. You can still say...nice doggie, and you realize why he is there (to protect the house), but never again will you try to make friend with it. You stay on your side of the fence and he stays on his.

Its not personal, its just the way things have to be sometimes.

What if there are no other churches around you? I know of an area of the country (which shall remain nameless) that the UPCI churches are at least 1 1/2 hours away from each other. Not so easy to just go to another one. Then the pastor of the other one wants a letter from your old pastor. (What do you think that letter will say? Anything good probably not). There are no other Oneness churches around in this particular area that I am aware of, so what do those people do?

In my community there are leash laws. Also if a dog becomes a threat to a neighborhood its time to break out the "ole pistola".

What if that dog got loose and harmed or killed a child?
